No. There is no locking mechanism built in, nor a hasp to put a lock on.

Is it good to hold presents for a trunk party? (obvioulsy not carrying all the items in there) but just for decorational use. Is it sturdy enough?

I used it to make a Harry Potter monopoly game for my grandson. It is sturdy enough for all the things that go along with that. Board, metal pieces, castles, cottages, painted coins, and cards. I think it would work for a trunk party well enough. It is very authentic looking. Hope this helps.
