Very well written
The book is very well written. Detail oriented yet succinct. It contains a lot of pearls. I feel very good about this book!

Great book, has a few typos with contradictory information.
This is a very good review book. I have used it every time I need to renew. I have found a couple of typos of contradictory information which has never happened that I remember in the past requiring me to do extra research to see which one was correct. I would have hated to not have caught this and learned the incorrect information. I am halfway through the book. I included the 2 typos in the picture.

2023 edition with lots of errors
I guess I should have read the reviews this time. This will be the 5th time I have used this review book since I graduated in 1995. Maybe I didn’t notice all the errors in the past, but there were many typos and some truly inaccurate statements. Some were easy to see as the light bulb information on the side clearly contradicted the text next to it. Some things were obvious like FUO includes temp greater than 38.3C or 101.8F - in 2 places on same page except that it should be 101.0F (which is correct and does correspond to 38.3C) and it wasn’t caught in either location. Who ever screened or edited the sections relied on autocorrect as one answer to a question in chapter 9 was “A. Angiotensin-converting enzyme wrap and rest” which apparently was an acceptable variation to ACE wrap and rest. By the time I got to the end of the OB chapter I was frustrated and was double checking so many things. When the answers for questions 11 and 12 were completed transposed, I really wondered if the editors actually read the words on the pages. My boss suggested I use another book after I showed him “Only a few patients in the United States develop opportunistic infections or malignancies because of the success of antiretroviral therapy.” Hmmm. At my hospital alone…The book still has a lot of good information, but when the errors stack up I start to lose faith in the accuracy and integrity of this product going forward.

Poor Editing
This will make my 4th PANRE this year and I purchased this to prep for the exam, but I'm disappointed by so my errors, typos, and conflicting information. I think the format and content is fine, this just needs more attention to detail before going to print.

Disappointed
I purchased this edition specifically because I wanted an updated version for my upcoming board exams, but unfortunately found that it is not up to date. I have the 5th version from when I was in PA school and this is almost identical aside from the formatting. While I do like the new formatting and find it easier to read, I would have preferred updated information. For example, the book states that methyldopa is the 1st line treatment for hypertension in pregnancy and labetalol is 2nd line. However, since 2019, these recommendations have been reversed (labetalol is now 1st line). The books also does not even mention cell free DNA for genetic testing in pregnancy, which has been first line for high risk patients for years now and is becoming more mainstream for the general population as well. As numerous other reviewers have pointed out, the light bulb highlighted areas are often contradictory to the text, which any 1st year editor should have been able to catch and just look sloppy. In summary, if you have an earlier edition of this text, just save your money because you will not get the updates you are looking for in this edition.
