THE INSPIRATION: Hurricane Sandy. I live in a coastal community that was impacted by Hurricane Sandy. So many of my neighbor's homes were destroyed. I looked around at all the debris and felt compelled to make something beautiful, "a-lemons-into-lemonade kinda thing". My nephew and I put up the fence in my yard; Sandy took it down. Now a piece of that fencing, repurposed into art, hangs in my living room. It serves as a lasting reminder of the importance of family, community and perseverance. THE PROCESS: We start by stripping the individual slats from the main frame of each fence panel. Second comes the sanding. Lots and lots -did I mention LOTS- of sanding. Next we cut the slats to size and determine to paint or not to paint. More sanding commences..... Once the piece is re-constructed we apply the starfish (seastar to be p.c.) and/or the boat cleats. Lastly we stand back and admire. WOOF leash hooks rack 15" x 3.5' . Boat Cleats for hooks. Two eye hooks on the backside for balanced hanging. Can be customized with your pooch's name.
