Timber Mate Wood Filler, Walnut, 1 Quart

I like the Timber Mate wood filler.

First off, a quart of this stuff is A LOT. As long as I can keep it from drying out, it is probably a lifetime supply.The filler is pretty easy to work with. It's a little stiffer than I'm used to, but still manageable with a $.50 plastic putty spreader.Even filling fairly wide gaps, I did not notice any shrinkage upon drying, and I had not problems with the dried material cracking or coming out during sanding.I was a little concerned about how it would look after finishing. It dries to a pinkish hue, and I'm finishing only with tung oil and no stain. So I was afraid that it wouldn't blend. But the color match to the surrounding wood it fantastic. Except for the lack of a grain pattern, the filled areas are indistinguishable from the rest of the wood.Highly recommended.

I don't mess around with any other filler. Water soluble is quick to dry, no noticeable shrinkage, and you can always thin it out or reconstitute if needed.

Don't be afraid to buy this if you are just looking to fill grain before painting. I used this one and the cherry wood color. I prefer this one because it is sold in a much larger container at a better price. The cherry wood filler did not go very far. I was able to cover both colors with just a coat of paint. You cannot tell I used two different colors to complete the project. Highly recommend. If you're just going to paint over it (and not simply stain), buy this one...it's the best value.

While this product worked well for filling in the spots the floor needed, IT SMELLS HORRIBLE. And, this is 2 MONTHS LATER, after the floor has been painted with good paint. (No, it is not the paint that smells; it is this product.) We thought the odor would be gone by now. I hope it leaves... sometime. We use every room in our house!I honestly wonder where it is really made — and why it smells so bad! Do NOT recommend.

Awesome filler/grain filler

Loved this filler when I was able to get a small container. Paid too much for a large container that is more work than it's worth. It's dried up and has to be added to water and mixed forever to get it useable. Very aggravated as I don't have to time to deal with this crap.

versatile,easy to wok with this product. Still got to see this will hold up...
