Q: Are the cars variable speed or just high and low? Can you control the speed enough to keep them on the track?

Yes, they are variable speed but the controllers require very fine motor skills to make that small of adjustments. Some people will just assume there isn't variable speed and the cars will just fly off the track.

Q: What scale are the cars

1/43, but as an FYI, the cars are lighter than Scalextric or Carrera brand cars and require you to apply stickers..

Q: Where to buy Replacement cars?

I sent my track back cars and track were low quality my son and I played with it for 2-3 hours first the cars struggled around the track and then the cars died
