Dust Collection Tent That Works!!!
I found this product on the Rockler Website and then researched the product on Amazon. There were plenty of reviews to read and numerous positive and negative comments. I purchased the 5000-L model and received the product within a week from Rousseau via FedEx. The product comes well packaged and comes with associated mounting brackets and hardware. This Dust Collection Tent was installed on my Rigid 12-inch Dual Bevel Miter Saw which is mounted on a Bora, Portamate Miter Saw Stand Work Station, Model PM-8000. Once I reviewed and analyzed the installation manual that comes with the product I purchased a 4" flexible union, 4" to 2-1/2" reducer and magnetic dust couplings from Woodcraft to complete the dust collection connections. The Miter Saw Base for the Rigid model is raised in the rear, so when mounting the Brackets provided by Rousseau, longer Carraige Bolts need to be used on the rear mounting ears. I used the longer Carraige Bolts provided by Rousseau and used other 5/16 SAE Hardware I had on hand. I used a couple of flatwashers over the existing mounting nuts, then installed the Stanchion Bracket secured on the longer Carraige Bolt. This raises the Bracket so that it can rotate to the front and clear the base of the Miter Saw. Once these Brackets are secured, they will be adjacent to the Adjustable Miter Saw Fences. Now the Hoop Mount Brackets can be installed loosely and the Tent can be mounted to these brackets. Pull the Tent forward and ensure the Tent is directly even with the Miter Saw Fences and tighten all hardware associated with brackets. You must ensure that the Tent is able to drop behind the Miter Saw so that the Connection is parallel to the Floor. On the Rigid Model, the discharge is directed angled up, and a 90-degree elbow with a six-to-eight-inch section of flexible hose needs to be installed on the discharge port. The small section of hose allows the discharge to be pointed down into the Tent and behind the saw. When properly installed, there are baffles that are built-in into the Tent that deploy and the Tent expands to full containment area. The only thing that Rousseau could enhance is adding an on/off Switch for the Light Strip. One other note to make on this installation, please make sure that the filter on your Vacuum System is clean and periodically checked to ensure there are no restrictions on the air flow. Generally, higher pitched sound coming from the vacuum system is a clue to a restriction. I have to say that if you decide to purchase this product, make sure that you take your time with installation and make sure the brackets are installed properly as directed in the installation manual. This is well worth the money and a great benefit in enhancing dust collection. Very happy customer and this money well spent.

Works well, good quality, wish the LED light had an on/off switch
Nicely made dust collector for a miter saw and works well but it is pricey. The fabric is heavy duty and it fit my Dewalt miter saw well. Installation was not complicated but took a little time to adjust it perfectly. The dust port was slightly larger than the standard 4" dust collector connector and I had to sand it down a bit to make it fit my dust collector hose connector. The LED light is great but unfortunately, it does not have an on/off switch and you have to plug and unplug when needed which is very annoying and a poor design - the designer must not have been a wood worker. For this price, the company should have included a $2 switch on/off switch for the LED light. I bought a basic toggle switch and installed it myself. Overall, however, it does help cut down on dust in my home workshop.

Pretty Good
I debated to buy one of those custom-made dust ports; but what discouraged me, is that I would have to start removing the blade guard and other parts in the installation. Being that my saw was so new, I didn't want to take a chance of voiding the warranty. I'm glad I went with this product though. It was a bit of a struggle at first, instructions are not too clear. However, I got by despite a missing washer. Installed it onto my Bosch 12" sliding miter saw. I had to make some 45-degree bevel cuts, but at first, the hood kind of impeded the saw, but with a little bit of loosening of the fasteners, I was able to adjust the hood and manage because this hood had plenty of room to play with. Also, I was able to use the saw port vacuum and snake the hose to portable Bosch Shop HEPA vacuum in conjunction with my shop dust collection system using the 4" port. I know, it's a bit overkill, but there is hardly any saw dust in the hood. I tried to use a 2.5" adaptor, but I didn't find it match the suction of a 4" hose. I recommend connecting a 4" hose. if you have a dust collector. Just be aware to adjust your hood so the vacuum port doesn't suck in the hood material, that was an issue at first. I would suggest the manufacturer include an on/off switch for the lighting. Have not used the light because I have a pretty well-lit shop. Overall, a pretty good product.

Excellent design & quality
I purchased this Rousseau 5000-L Lighted Dust Solution to keep dust out of my small workshop for a new DeWalt DWS779 miter saw I recently purchased. It is labeled as "Made In The USA", and the quality, design, fit and finish of the device makes this American proud. It's a quality product. Photos I've attached show how well it fits my saw and table. Installation instructions are minimal, but that stands to reason as applications vary so much. That being said, the basic information needed to make the install are clear, and the installation was a snap. A call out here, though, on the exhaust port from the base of the hood to a vacuum or dust removal system. Amazon recommends a POWERTEC 70136 4in to 2-1/2in Cone Reducer, so I purchased it. IT DOES NOT FIT. To Amazon's credit, they gave me a full refund on this item. If you look at the installation material that comes with the Rousseau, it will show that they recommend a 4" I.D. reducer, like one sold from Penn Industries(note attached photo). I just ordered that part from them. The POWERTEC item description says "4in", but it is NOT 4in I.D. Buyer beware. The LED lighting on the Rousseau is slick, and works well. One disappointment, though, is that it's not switched. I chose to not connect it to the iSocket Workshop Autoswitch that I purchased with the Rousseau, which is great for my vacuum, because it shuts-off shortly after the saw is shut off. I wanted to keep the work surface lit when the saw was not in use. My solution was to purchase an HBN Outside/Inside Wireless Remote Control for the LED light. Bottom line, I'm VERY HAPPY with the Rousseau unit, and very impressed with the design and quality. I see getting many years of use from it.

Takes a little adjustment, but it works well
I have come to like this a lot. It needs some encouragement at times (meaning you smack the sides to get the dust to drop into the hole on occasion, but it sure does clear the particulates from the cut. A lot better than any of the built in dust collection for miter saws that I've seen. The light is a kind of an interesting deal. It works great but how do you turn it on? No switch. So maybe crawl across the floor and plug it in behind the saw every time you want to use it? Uh no. The solution I came up with was to tie it into my track lights over the saws so it comes on when I hit the wall switch. This was helpful: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003YNYLX2 in getting that done. Without some system like that, the light is pretty difficult to operate. There are also foot switches you could use, but not super practical under a miter saw. I do encourage you to find a way to make it work. It sheds a lot of light on the subject. So much so, that the laser is a little harder to read.

What Was I Thinking?
Update: The Rousseau company was unresponsive to a problem with the 4” vacuum connection port sucking the tent into the vacuum hose. This stopped air flow. My Pflux 3 HP exceeded the design. However it’s an easy fix. Remove the ring and outlet connection. Obtain a Powertec Mini Gulp and drop it in through the existing hole. No modifications or cutting needed. It now can handle a more powerful dust collection system. So I came across this lighted dust tent while searching for a method to reduce shop mess from my DeWalt 12” Cross Cut saw. I hit on this tent and ordered it. I assembled it in 10 minutes. I cut a bunch of boards and it was fantastic. I hooked it to my Laguna 3 Hp dust collector and nearly sucked the thing into oblivion. I inserted a loose 4 into 2-1/2” plastic reducer just placing it into the hole small side down. Boom! I still can’t believe how well it works. Highly recommend the lighted version just for the safety enhancement of seeing things better lending to accuracy as well. I love how it can be removed in 40 seconds and collapsed with two wing nuts. Don’t be a wing nut and wait any longer. Just joking. I love when stuff works.

Best dust hood on the market
The only thing I don’t like about this dust hood is trying to put it back in the bag when you’re done with it. It’s like trying to put a sleeping bag away. Aside from that it’s awesome. I’ve had the fastcap chop saw hood and that worked great but the Rousseau takes the cake. The led light can’t be beat. You gotta be able to see what you’re cutting and it’s perfect. The best part of this chop saw hood is the built in 4” dust port. My dust collector hooks right up to it and provides constant suction to suck away all the fine dust that would normally be left to float around in the air. Shake the hood a little and any dust that hasn’t been sucked up just drops down and gets sucked up. The constant suction also helps to keep the dust from settling on my saw. You know that stuff works it’s way inside the motor and causes it to heat up and prematurely burn up. Furthermore, Rousseau has great customer service. After several years the led light gave up the ghost. I called Rousseau and they sent a new one out lickity split. Get you one of these and up your game as a craftsman. Take some pride in your work and keep a clean work area.

It Works and it's big.
I've been using this for about 6 months now. It catches about 98% of the sawdust. It's big and awkward to setup. Yet it does keep the vast majority of the sawdust from your shop/work area. I have it connected to a 1200 CFM Dust Collector. Not all the sawdust gets into the Dust Collector. This device collects the sawdust on it's walls/crevices - and not all over the place! I also purchased the light attachment which helps - I wish it did not have a separate electrical cord.

Good Quality
Wondering why it took me so long to get on board with this dust tent. Well worth the money. My saw is stationary so I can't say how easy it is to set up and tear down when going from job site to job site although it does fold up easy and the bracket once installed on your saw would remain in the same position. Captures I would say 90% of dust with my shopvac attached to it ( I use a sacrificial fence for cutting which does give you a bit of dust bounce back from the blade and closer to 98% when connected to my 2hp dust collection system

WORTH THE BUY REDUCE THE ROOM DUST
The Rousseau 5000L WAS A GREAT IMPROVEMENT OVER THE MESS I PUT UP WITH FOR YEARS IN MY SMALL WORKSHOP. I HAVE AN OLD DEWALT 717 10 INCH I AM NOT SURE IF ITS THE BLADE OR JUST POOR SAW DESIGN BUT IT FIRES SAWDUST MORE TO THE LEFT SIDEWAYS PLUS FORWARD. THE Rousseau 5000L CAPTURES THAT FORWARD UP DUST STREAM,NO MORE A PILE OF DUST BEHIND THE UNIT AND NO MORE A ATOMIC BOMB PLUME OF HANGING DUST OVER MY HEAD AND THE SHOP. IF YOUR CUTTING A 2X8 X11/2 SIGNIFICANT SIDEWAYS DUST, A SMALLER WIDTH CUT LESS SIDEWAYS. I FOUND IF I PUT A BAFFLE FOR STRAIGHT CUTS BEHIND THE FENCE FURTHER LESS DUST/CHIPS BOOMERANGED BACKWARDS INTO THE ROOM. I ALSO FOUND WITH MY SET UP THE DUST PORT CONNECTED TO MY 1 1/2-2hP DUST COLLECTOR WITH 35 FEET OF PIPING WAS STILL ABLE TO SUCK THE TENT OVER THE INPUT PORT INWARDS BLOCKING. ALTHOUGH NOT VERY BEAUTIFUL,INSTALLED A 12 INCH COOKIE LID WITH CENTERED HOLE OF CORRECT SIZE OVER THE INPUT FLANGE WITH #6 SCREWS RIGHT INTO THE FLANGE. OF COARSE IT WILL TAKE A BUILD UP OF SAW DUST BEFORE IT BLOWS IN THE PORT .HOWEVER THE HOSE FROM THE SAW ITSELF STILL BLOWS INTO PORT. THE LIGHTING IS A GREAT IMPROVEMENT OVER THE LIGHT I HAD ENDURED WITH. OVER ALL WORTH THE BUY SHOULD HAVE BOUGHT IT SOONER. THERE'S A FEW IMPROVEMENT I COULD SEE FOR VERSION 2 WHICH I WON'T GO INTO INSTRUCTIONS AND FEW PHOTOS ON LINE OF DIFFERENT SAW'S SET UPS WOULD HAVE BEEN HELPFUL. I SPENT CONSIDERABLE TIME FIGURING HOW TO ADAPT THIS DEVICE TO MY NON STANDARD SAW STAND.

Works real well
The connection from the tent to the shop vac is real issue … supplier should have made a generic fit …. Ended up making my own …. The rest is perfect
