Good-natured rock & roll wise guy Joe Walsh not only made a name for himself as guitarist for The Eagles and The James Gang, but he also had a successful solo career. Known for his self-deprecating sense of humor ("Life's Been Good") and his dirty guitar boogie (the pulsating "Rocky Mountain Way"), Walsh drew a fan base from those who were fond of the harder edge he gave to The Eagles. He was easily one of the better guitarists of his generation, not so much for flashy licks but for his rhythmic sensibilities and awareness of restraint and economy. Yet Walsh continued to view himself as an "Ordinary Average Guy." His keen self-awareness and his understanding of the importance of rock in the overall scheme of things was further evidenced in "A Life of Illusion." Even the title of this collection, Greatest Hits: Little Did He Know shows Walsh, for all of his talent, never lost sight of the fact that it's only rock & roll. The album also contains the memorable "Funk#49," "Bolero," and "Midnight Man." --Steve Gdula From his beginnings with the James Gang to his work with Barnstorm, the Eagles and his subsequent solo albums, Joe Walsh's career has been marked by one success after another. Little Did He Know... is the only available CD covering the various stages of the career of one of the best and most-loved rockers of recent generations. Contains 15 rock classics (including "Rocky Mountain Way," "Life's Been Good," "Funk #49" and much more), plus great new photos. Joe Walsh is currently on tour! Excellent Sound Quality for a Compilation!
Assembling and re-mastering several albums throughout the 80-90's is no small feat- especially to do it right. I have a high end stereo system that shows all the poor re-mastering jobs out there. This one got it right, adjusting the volume and tonal quality of earlier albums with later ones that had better recording equipment. But simply put I am very happy to get to listen thru Walsh's fantastic history of songs with barely a snip of sound difference.

Super Good
I had forgotten how many Joe Walsh songs I like and know. Turn To Stone is an early version (1969?), that I didn’t know and I prefer the 1975 version better. (Not on this album). All the rest of the songs are the original studio recordings that listeners will recognize.
