Saved My Silverado's Battery from Constant Drain!
I installed a new radio head unit in my 2000 Silverado and noticed my battery would drain within a week if I left the truck parked. After a bit of research, I came across this Side Post Car Battery Disconnect Switch, and it has been a total lifesaver! Installation was incredibly simple—it fit perfectly on the battery's side post and was up and running in minutes. Now, whenever I park my truck for extended periods, I just turn the switch to disconnect the battery, and I no longer have to worry about a dead battery when I come back. The switch is easy to use and feels sturdy enough to last, with a good, solid connection. It completely stopped the battery drain caused by the radio head unit, and I don’t have to jumpstart the truck every week anymore. If you have any parasitic drain issues or just want to ensure your battery lasts longer on vehicles not driven daily, this switch is a must-have. It’s affordable, effective, and does exactly what it’s supposed to. Highly recommend it for any older vehicle owners or anyone dealing with battery issues!

These work great for about 6 months
These work Great for about 6 months, once they start to corrode they stop working, If they were a sealed unit they would probably be different, once the corrosion sets in then the problem starts with starting my vehicle. They work great BUT they don't last 6 months without a problem, I took a picture of my switch that is about 6 months old look at the corrosion on it, I took it off my Truck, I couldn't start my Truck any longer

The item needed a metric screw.
The item should have contained a metric screw as well as the standard one that came with it. We had to purchase a metric battery cable screw from AutoZone. Otherwise, the product worked ok. Care should be taken in disconnecting the battery when turning the green knob counter-clockwise. The knob could fall off within the body of the vehicle.

Battery ground disconnect
The supplied bolt threads in the hole shipped but didnt thread into the battery. Had to buy a 3/8-16 bolt and washer to attch it to the battery. The side post battery cable threaded into the threaded side of the disconnect just fine.

Simple solution to a lot of battery current leakage problems.
As a car ages there are electronic systems and circuits that start to develop small leakage currents. Often the cost to find and replace these leaking circuits that are fully operational - can cost more that the vehicle can be sold for. This switch turns of all these battery drains and when the car is in use the charging system generally is not impacted by these little current thieves. Important Note: On side mount lead acid batteries you have about a half inch of 3/8" by 16 thread in the soft lead terminals.you will need to engage all the threads just as deep as the battery cable does so the threads do not get stripped out. My solution to get full bolt engagement and bottoming the bolt completely without putting the stress on the threads when tightening a bolt that may be a little too long or too short when fully tightened. I Bought a much longer (3/8") by 16 thread (4" or 5")Bolt. Thread a nut on this bolt and then put on a lock washer leaving about 3" of bolt thread to go through the unthreaded bolt hole of the cut off switch. Then finger tighten this bolt into the battery terminal making sure you have full thread engagement and a solid bottom stop. Now you can tighten the nut to fully compress the lock washer and know that the battery switch is secure. The cable position should have been established before the switch is fully tightened. I had to first remove the plastic battery cover to get the new battery switch to fit flat and mate correctly with the battery terminal ( I used the negative terminal as it was the most accessible). Good Luck.

Doesn't fit a GM side terminal battery!
This thing is stupid. What you can't see in the pictures is that both bolts are metric, so the one won't screw into a GM side terminal battery and the other one has such a large diameter flange that it won't sit inside the rubber isolator on the battery cable. If it's going to take a project to make something I'm buying for convenience fit with going and buying a new bolt and turning down the diameter of the flange on the other, I'll just keep my wrench handy. This is a complete waste of money.
