The Superior Foes of Spider-Man 2: The Crime of the Century

Spider-Foes is the best comic
The second installment of the SUPERIOR FOES OF SPIDERMAN continues the insane antics of the least threatening of Spiderman's foes. Shockingly Boomerang tried to kill the Shocker (reminding us these people are all evil) in order to cover up his attempted double cross of the other teens. This trade paperback shows us the origin of the new Beetle. She's the daughter of Spiderman B-lister Tombstone (maybe an A- given how many adaptations he's been in) and has always wanted to be a supervillain. Watching her father be loving and compassionate to her while also teaching her all the worst lessons is actually rather touching. We also find out Overdrive wants to be a superhero but he's kind of terrible at it. Also, he's willing to hijack a schoolbus due to the prospect of sex with Beetle. The humor of this series is top notch and I couldn't get enough of these awful wonderful people. If you have a love of supervillains, superheroes, and humor then this is the series for you.9/10

Perfection is tough to maintain
This volume is definitely not the equal to it's predecessor, and I'd recommend taking some time before reading it so you don't wind up comparing them. By itself I think I'd have just enjoyed: doing both in one day just left me noticing a drop off. Aside from a darkening in tone that didn't always work and a bit of dragging on with the Silvermane storyline, my big complaint was the final issue collected(which is #11, not #15). Not only does it lack the series stars, it's basically what should have been a back up story in an annual about how scary the new Spider-Man seems to super criminals. A really poor ending to a flawless Volume 1 and an other wise pretty good Volume 2.

easily the most entertaining thing coming out of Marvel right ...
Next to Hawkeye, easily the most entertaining thing coming out of Marvel right now, as long as you like a lot of laughs with your supervillainy. I love a story where the henchmen and working class baddies get their time to shine, or at least to screw up in a highly public fashion, and this book gives you that in spades. It's classic "root for the bad guy" stuff, and sometimes that's just what the unlicensed doctor ordered.

Just as good as volume 1.
The fun continues in the second book of Superior Foes. While Nick Spencer and Steve Lieber are the hilarious combo attraction for the series, we do get some fill-in issues from other writers and writers. The other issues still provide background info and are quite funny in their own right. No steam was lost for me and we chug on to the next and final volume.

Really wasn't sure if I would like this series
Really wasn't sure if I would like this series, it's very different from your typical super hero story, but it makes a pretty good read. The "Superior Foes" are a bunch of goof balls but the story is entertaining.

Funny, Brilliant
Spider Man's enemies are almost as funny as he is. A gem worth reading, different from most comic books focused on the heroes.

Such an underrated series. You're missing out if you haven't read all three books.

If you ve read the first book
You be already bought this one. If you haven't yet, do it now. It is as funny. The art is more uneven with different artists . But you'll still like it. It's the best comic you've never read. Until you have...
