Numicon: Number Rods - Small Set

Every teacher/tutor should have a set of these.I am using this product at work in my tutoring. There are lots of games that can be played using these, not just for place value: I use these for adding and subtracting too (I would be happy to share some of my ideas). There are plenty of rods in the box to use individually or as part of a small group. Easy to clean also.

As another reviewer has said, it's a slight shame that these rods are plastic, rather than wood. However they are well made, fit well inside the box and will likely last decades, assuming they don't go missing. Speaking of which, the case lid is not the tightest at closing and so I'd recommend that you use a rubber band to ensure it stays in place securely, so you don't have to spend hours picking up the pieces from the floor.These are very useful for TEFL teaching, colours, stresses, numbers, comparisons etc.

A really good resource, particulary for multiplication, as (for example) it enforces children to work in blocks of numbers rather that singular digits - e.g. 3 lots of 2-blocks measures to 6 (used with the track), but the children do not have the option of counting the blocks as 1,2,3,4,5... Note that you have to buy the number track seperately.

I use this everyday to support numeracy in school it's a fab little resource and although a little pricy I feel it's justified as it is solid and will last, I do recommend you buy the rods that go with this too as they go hand in hand.
