Grandmaster (Otto Penzler Presents S.) Paperback – Import, 29 November 2005

I thought it was a great book. Only book I’ve read 3 times over the years. Might not be everyone’s ideal but I enjoyed it.

I did not read this book myself, but my daughter told me that she found it difficult finding the flow of the book.She is not a chess player so this may have effected how she percived it.

Ignore the chess related title, this is an old fashioned Cold War thriller with a quasi-spiritual/supernatural twist. Unfortunately, I found myself rooting more for the antagonist than the protagonist as I found the mystical wipe-on, wipe-off Mr Myagi-style training of the hero unconvincing.
