What's the difference between the dog and cat version vs the one for both?

Can i mix powder in a container with seed and shake it all up and then seed is covered each feeding

Hi & thanks for the great question! That is a great way to provide the Avian powder in your bird's diet. The "stickiness" of the ground flaxseed helps the powder easily and naturally adhere to seed and other types of feed, so the birds consume it when mixed in with their regular diet. Can I mix that with water

I have never mixed this powder supplement with water. Birds don't drink a lot of water. So, if you mix this powder supplement with water, the birds may not get enough supplement in their systems. I use 1/8 teaspoon of the supplement every morning, and mix it with the bird seed for a few minutes. The supplement dissipates among the grains of seeds. My two birds eat the seeds with the supplement. And, their feathers are very colorful and strong, even after a heavy molt.

Did anyone else notice that this product is called "Avian Formula for Dogs"??

It has been several months ago that I ordered this product for my English Budgies. The package I got definitely says "avian". If you do a search "missing link for birds", this product shows up. If you do a search for "missing link for dogs" this product DOES NOT show up. I'm not sure why Amazon has the incorrect description on the heading, but this is not the first time that I have come across this problem. Now that you have brought it to their attention, maybe they will correct the heading. Missing Link started out making a supplement for dogs, and all their products are similar (if you look on their website). The Avian formula has soy bean added with the basic formula containing meat products. I have talked to some breeders who feed meat and fish to their Budgies but in my research, most do not. My birds did not seem to like this product. With birds, they are definitely difficult to get to try new things. Birds like what they were fed by their mothers when they were babies and if the breeder did not offer food similar to this, they may not take to it even if it is good for them.

I bought this for my 3 parakeets I adopted at a shelter. The one girl had been attacked when she was found and was doing much better but had less energy ten the other two. I decided to try this and it was amazing how much she perked up. They are all doing great and I have to put some of top of all 3 feed cups because they all run for it in the morning.

One of my conures has been plucking her feathers since she turned 2, she's now 19. She's been vet checked and had all blood work come back unremarkable. Truly believe it's a hormonal thing, but I also think she does it if she doesn't get enough attention. I've tried Hemp Well, Avi-Calm (along with Fearherific) plus another supplement like Avi-Calm (but name escapes me.) For 2 years, did quite well on Avi-Calm with Fearherific, hardly plucked at all. Then suddenly she plucked her chest and legs bald overnight. I scrambled for other things to try, like the Hemp Well, but really didn't seem to matter. I came across this Missing Link Powder and decided to give it a try. I've been putting it on her food for a couple of weeks now. She looks really good, though I know she's still plucking some. I'm hoping maybe alternating between these supplements will help. Thus far my only complaint is the ziplock style bag is NOT suited for this powder. My bag would absolutely NOT close after opening the bag because of caked-on powder. I ended up cutting the seals off and clipping the bag shut. Not a dealbreaker, but thought it was worth mentioning. I bought it for a gift and they were very surprised, it turned out to be a great product (I had no idea 🤷🏻‍♀️) it fulfills the functions it promises, it has noticed the changes in its birds
