It's a pretty good camera for the price point. I can see very clearly and it's a wider angle than the ones that came with my DVR. I am very happy with this purchase and would recommend.Remember, cameras can only go so far to help making things clearer. Good infrared illumination and resolution are great but your DVR has to be able to handle that resolution and also have hard drives big enough to store those high resolution images. Really, SWANN products are great for their level. But if you want to be able to see license plates and have images of people's faces to use in a conviction you'll need to step up to professional level and they run in the thousands.

EXCELLENT replacement analog (NTSC) cameras for video surveillance DVR's with analog (composite) video inputs. These will RUN RINGS AROUND included cameras. These are rated 900 TV lines (horizontal resolution), and the improvement is HUGE! You probably ain't gonna get much better with analog technology!!! If you need and/or want anything better, GO FULL DIGITAL (requires fully digital DVR)!!! They also seem to hold up better than cameras included with a DVR surveillance bundle.

BEWARE!!! Don't be fool by Swann product. I bought cameras at least 12 cameras within 4 year time. Cameras are really cheap and crappy. It will last maybe a month or two. Swann keeps a record of all the returns, even though you have warranty or not. When it comes time for a return they will flatly refuse you for a return.

Purchased these to replace 742 cams that lost color viewing. Easy swap out, image is much better with the 842 cams.
