A Powerhouse of Style and Performance: Hauslane PS38 Range Hood Review
The Hauslane PS38 Range Hood has truly transformed my kitchen experience, delivering exceptional performance and sleek aesthetics. Its standout feature, the powerful suction provided by its perimeter suction design, sets it apart from other range hoods on the market. I'm enjoying searing steaks, high heat stir fries and Indian curries with no smell in my house. Additionally, its stylish appearance adds a touch of elegance to my kitchen décor. While there are a couple of minor issues, such as the clock losing a minute every month or two (easy to correct the time though) and the sharpness of the metal on the interior removable baffle, these do not overshadow the overall excellence of this range hood. The most remarkable aspect of the Hauslane PS38 Range Hood is its powerful suction capability, thanks to its perimeter suction design. It effectively captures and eliminates cooking odors, smoke, and airborne particles, ensuring a clean and fresh kitchen environment. The suction power is impressive, efficiently venting out the unwanted fumes and ensuring that my kitchen stays free from lingering cooking smells. This powerful feature greatly enhances the cooking experience, allowing me to focus on preparing delicious meals without worrying about smoke or odor issues. In addition to its outstanding performance, the Hauslane PS38 Range Hood boasts a visually appealing design. Its sleek and modern aesthetics add a touch of sophistication to my kitchen space. The stylish stainless steel finish seamlessly blends with the surrounding appliances, creating a cohesive and elegant look. The clean lines and minimalist design make it a focal point in the kitchen, enhancing the overall visual appeal of the space. While the Hauslane PS38 Range Hood excels in many areas, it does have a couple of minor issues. The clock occasionally loses a minute every month or two, which requires occasional readjustment to ensure accuracy. While this can be slightly inconvenient, it is a small issue that does not significantly impact the overall functionality of the range hood. Another minor concern is the sharpness of the metal on the interior removable baffle. It is essential to exercise caution and wear gloves when cleaning to avoid any accidental cuts or injuries. While this requires an extra step during maintenance, it is a manageable issue that can be easily addressed by taking proper precautions. The self-cleaning feature is worthwhile - however please note it mostly cleans the fan blades so you'll still need to wipe down several surfaces. Despite these minor concerns, the Hauslane PS38 Range Hood has surpassed my expectations and earned a solid five-star rating. Its powerful suction, stylish design, and overall performance make it a top-notch choice for any kitchen. The minor issues mentioned do not overshadow the exceptional functionality and aesthetics of this range hood. If you're looking for a powerful and visually appealing addition to your kitchen, the Hauslane PS38 Range Hood is an excellent investment that will elevate both the functionality and beauty of your cooking space.

Good product. Very hard to install. Instructions don't list all the functions.
Received it today. It's solid and well built. Be prepared for a very challenging installation. I hired a handyman and we both struggled to hold it up and drive the screws through. It's a 37 lb. unit so it's not a lightweight to install. For the back screws we had to almost lie on top of the stove in order to see the holes. It's beyond me why such an expensive product does not come with a bracket that you first screw into place and then either clip or slide the unit on to the bracket. Kind-off a mini-split A/C unit gets installed or even Ikea wall cabinets. As far the functionality goes it's easy but annoying to operate. You first need to turn the display panel before you can turn on either the extractor or the lights. Why make me press 2 buttons? The manufacturer should get rid of that power button and simply have the display panel on at all times. The instructions leave out a few of the very important features such at the auto-off timer (hold the power button for about 5 seconds). I like the fact that you can steam clean the blades. That is a built in function. The unit comes with a water reservoir that you fill up whenever you want to steam clean the fans. The reservoir hooks on to the back of the unit and the process takes 3 minutes to do the cleaning. Another neat touch is the that lights are all the way at the front but angled back. This is a great feature for short people as it avoids having the lights shine in your eyes.

This unit is fairly quiet, at maximum setting it is slightly louder but that is expected. On lowest setting noise level is barely noticeable, but still exhaust air very well for light cooking. Generally my setting is on level 4 unless I'm doing heavy duty working then I set it to max. No odor unless the wife didn't turn it on when she starts cooking, by turn it to Max then all cooking odour is gone. Now my neighbors know when I'm cooking. Lol. Installation is easy. I use the template provided to locate the four screw location and undercut the cord template opening because if you cut the cord opening as per template it's a little oversized and would not leave enough wood for the mounting screws to bite into the wood. My shelf where the hood mounts is double thickness and the screws just perfect length. I recommend if your shelf is single thickness I would add another board inside to make life easier for the installation. I use the screws provided and screw it onto the wood with a 1/4" of the screw head sticking out. Lift the hood and aligned the mounting holes of the hood with the protruding screw heads, and push the fan hood back to lock in the screws then using a long #2 robertson screw bit (6") to tighten the screws to the shelf. Voila' it's done. No need to have another person to help. It can be done by one person as long as you prep the screw alignment accurately with the provided cardboard template. Only negative side to this fan is the control for fan speed is not very responsive, and like all the other reviews said... setting the clock is terrible. Wish the steam clean holder/container was built in, instead of a separate piece which I have to find separate storage space elsewhere. Otherwise I'm very happy with the hood. Fan is easy to clean...used it for 2 weeks now and no signs of grease accumulation yet..... maybe because it is strong and blew everything out. Can't respond to the steam clean as I haven't used it yet. Hope this fan have some longevity. Well worth the price.

It is worth every penny. Easy to assemble, great quality product. Don’t think twice if you are considering this for your kitchen or spice kitchen.

I bought this range hood after reading a lot of good reviews. I had an installer coming in but immediately he noticed there was something wrong about the hood. One of the fans wouldn’t turn smoothly and hits the side wall. When he tried to turn it on to test, the one fan wouldn’t even work. This seems to be bad quality control as the box and the hood haven’t been damaged during shipping. My installer noted too that these fan type hoods are older technology and currently they use turbine which are stronger and less noisy. On top of all this, I have to pay to return the hood back which will cost me over $60. Such a waste of time and money. I bought a Chinese brand recommended by my installer.

Good and quality product, looks nice, functions very well. a couple of regrets: missing washers, the folded template is not quite accurate -- makes installation difficult and since it is 'heavy', installation is pretty challenging by one person. And I do not find anywhere in the manual on how to set time. (need to re plug the power to set it as I found later). Overall, I recommend it for all the minor uncomfortable stuff.

Hello, I love the design of this unit. It has a heavy duty feel and thick stainless. It does not feel cheap and flimsy. I wish it had the option to hard wire vs plug in as I had to install an outlet in my cabinet and drill a larger hole to fit the end of the plug. There were no directions in the manual on how to set the time, but one quick question and I received multiple responses on how that is completed. It has many speeds and even on the lower speeds has great suction. At the highest speed setting it is a bit noisier, but that is ok for me. I rarely need to use the higher speeds. As I mentioned in the subject. I installed this myself. The directions call for three people. Here is how I was able to do this. I did not use any jacks as suggested in the directions. ( I didn't have them anyways) I purchased 4 claw nut fasteners (and machine screws) and drilled a hole in the bottom of my cabinet to accommodate them. Directions and the parts supplied were to use the wood screws supplied with the hood range. (which are too long for my 3/4" thick cabinets.) They would stick out into the cabinet if I used what was supplied possible causing a cut/scrape if I used them and someone reached up into the cupboard. I used the cardboard insert that came in the box as a template to mark where I needed to drill the four holes, in addition to the 6" hole for the vent. I drilled all my holes and pushed in the fasteners as far as I could, then tapped down the fasteners with a hammer so they sat flush with my shelf, I manually screwed in the 4 screws I purchased leaving about 1/2" of thread showing under the cabinet. I then lifted the hood range and aligned the screws into the key holes on the hood and pushed backwards to lock them into place in the key holes. The cabinet now is hanging on the screws. Now I used my drill and tightened each screw raising it up and tight against the bottom of the cabinet. I was also able to use shorter screws to add some extra supports where I was able to in open spots in the hood. I have attached pics of the fasteners, the inside of the cabinet showing it installed and the finished install.
