Worked on never-waterproof clothing!
I first bought this from REI and the prices are identical, but Amazon is certainly more convenient (plus, where I live, I can have it delivered Same Day). I was going on vacation for two weeks to an area that could have been rainy and I thought I’d take a chance on lots of clothing options. I did not follow the directions and decided to clean/waterproof several items in one load. What’s the worst that can happen? Nothing happened, other than my clothes were absolutely, fantastically (at the very least), extremely water resistant. Simple to use. Funny enough, it cleaned my washer. I didn’t notice any scent, just a new feeling, to the touch, of my clothing. I waterproofed/resistance shirts and pants that were never designed for that and WOW did it work! I only had one downpour that I walked in and after I had been walking casually in fairly heavy rain for roughly a mile, walked into the grocery for 30 minutes and walked about half a mile, did I start feeling the water on my skin. NOPE! I walked in and took everything off to let it ‘dry’ and my skin was completely dry! So, it worked on clothes that were never designed waterproof. I put (quite a few) more items in each load and hung them to dry. Perfect outcome! I am so impressed and will absolutely continue using this on my activity clothes, especially living in the PNW. Year round hiking? Bring it on! Worth every penny. Know that you can waterproof regular items, seems totally safe on any cloth (I have no idea if that’s true). And, if you spill coffee or custard on an item…no stains. Everything seemed to bead up or wipe right off. I’ll be trying this on any of my white clothing in the future, as long as it’s not a Dry Clean Only item! (Pics are after one mile, 30 min shipping, and 1/2 mile return in a downpour every tourist was hesitant to walk into.)

Super Cleaner
Definitely recommend even though it is mainly for 2 jackets if they are very dirty, which was my case. I washed and waterproof my picture organic snowboard jacket. I have a white and light blue one, so it was really dirty especially on ge white large parts. It cleaned it very well, but had to wash it twice with the cleaning solution. Then I washed it again with the waterproof solution. My wife's cream Northgate jacket was also dirty and full of make up in the upper area. This was a puffy jacket, so you can only use the cleaning solution. I used it twice and it got rid of 99% of all the dirt and makeup. Only a very small spot stayed on. Definitely would buy again.

Very small amount. Will only do 1 load of waterproofing
This will get you 2 washes of about 3 items each and only 1 waterproofing of said three items. So you can actually wash about 6 items but will only be able to waterproof 3. I used this to wash 3 coats. 2 hard shell rain coats (a Marmot and a Northface) and a winter snowboard coat that used to be waterproof. I read through a ton of reviews and looked at all the different versions. I debated getting the other soft shell version and doing the snowboard coat separate but when I got the bottles I realized how small they actually are. Reading the instructions I though you might only need a capful or some lesser quantity but for 1 load you need the whole bottle of waterproofer. Once I figured that out I wasn’t going to wash all three items and then wait and waterproof them separate so I did them all together. The cleaning agent did a great job! The north face is about 10+ years old and was pretty filithy. It came out nearly brand new! Especially around the arm holes. Same with my board coat. The directions were easy to follow and i didn’t dry them at all in between wash and waterproof. However since my Marmot has sealed seams I didn’t want to tumble dry and risk ruining the seals. So I air dried that after waterproofing, and tumbled on low the other two. Once they were all fully dry I did the water test. Both hard shells were back to being waterproof again! Both beaded up instantly with no immediate soaking. I’m sure it will take a real test of being in the actual rain to tell but neither were beading at all prior to this so I’ll take it as a win. The snowboard coat however, did not fair so well. It just straight absorbs any water that touches it. But given that it is not a hard shell jacket and I may have just been setting my hopes too high that this would just “work”, I’m not totally dissapointes. I am tempted to get the spray waterproofer now though and see if that will help. Either that or buy the other version and try again. Either way I wasn’t going to *not* wash it with the others since I had the stuff to use so it was worth a shot. So overall I would say it works great for HARDSHELL rain jackets.

Great product.
I’ve used these for years. Can’t say enough good things. They have kept my rain gear clean and waterproof for decades with seasonal refreshing.

20 yr old Simms Goretex jacket is like new!
I’m kind of amazed at how well this product works and how easy it is to apply. Followed the instructions on the bottles (kind of) and got great results. I had two old Simms Goretex raincoats, one of which was 20 years old, the other about 10 years old. I got wet whenever I wore them, but they were expensive so I didn’t want to just buy a new one. Over the years both have been through a lot of weather and a lot of fish slime. Then I searched on YouTube on how to re-waterproof rain coats and found Nikwax. I put both garments in the washer and used a full bottle of tech wash, then a full bottle of Tx Direct. Then put them in the dryer on air/low heat for 30 minutes. And they look and feel like brand new. And water just flies off the surface. Going to do my well-worn Orvis waders next. Highly recommend this duo!

Great for revitalizing waterproof clothing
I used this due to rewaterproof my Patagonia rain coat with H2NO as well as my winter North Face synthetic down jacket. It worked very well for both. Both coats had been washed multiple times with regular Tide detergent and the rain coat was no longer water resistant after being barely a year old. However, one treatment with this due and it's back to keeping me mostly dry. It's not quite as good as it was when new, but I'm thinking that's more my fault rather then Nikwax's. The North Face came out great and keeps me nice and dry in the snow. The one caveat with Nikwax is don't expect it to act like regular detergent as far as scent. There is a scent following Nikwax treatment and it's not really pleasant, but not offensive either. It's hard to detect. Personally, I will trade having good smelling coats for waterproof coats any day of the week. However, if you have particularly stinky gear, you may need to explore other unstinking options before, or following, washing to get the smell out. Also, don't expect to get multiple loads out of each bottle. Make sure you read the instructions before washing. I will definitely buy Nikwax again and wish I had known about it sooner before I started drowning my Patagonia rain coat in Tide. Nikwax seems pretty expensive, but if you're buying expensive outerwear, it's a small price to pay to greatly extend the longevity and functionality of your gear and 110% worth it.

Great way to refresh or add waterproofing to a jacket.
I was skeptical. But I washed several worn out waterproof and regular nylon jackets in the Cleaning solution and then washed them in the waterproofing solution and it works great. No, I haven't tried them on a 3-week trek in monsoon season. But for everyday urban and suburban use, I can confirm this stuff works great. It's cheaper than a lot of fancy, new waterproof garments. If you do this right, it doesn't change the look or the feel of the garment.

Expensive product...helps some with older Gortex rainwear but not as much as getting new raingear!
I have used this on some Gortex that is about 15 years old as well as on a nylon hat that I wear for outdoor rainy times which is pretty much all the time here in the NW. The hat does pretty well with waterproofing using these products but my Gortex rain jacket still doesn't retain that 'water off a ducks back' level of shedding of water that new Gortex has. After walking in steady rain the jacket does get soaked in water and it is no longer 'rolling off' the jacket. Most of the time I don't use the jacket for more than an hour so I didn't know if it would eventually result in me being 'soaked' if I stayed out in it. This is cheaper than new rain gear for sure and better than not using it, but for the price I wished it could make the waterproofing 'as good as new' but realistically it just doesn't/ A year later....I've bought this product again a couple of weeks ago after getting totally soaked while using the rain gear that I used the Nitwax tech wash and water repellent on a year ago. It did not handle 3 hours of heavy rain on a boat! Ever the optimist, I decided to 'redoing' the waterproofing by getting 'fresh product' so I bought this duo again. I have the same impression as a year ago.. This product did look like it improved water resistance but I wouldn't call this 'waterproof.' I have both used this product via a 'wash in' the washing machine (a year ago) as well as trying it as a 'hand wash-in' cleaner and water proofer. (this past week) \\ Results are about the same. I also just bought some Nitwax TX direct spray on waterproofer from Amazon and will check with Nitwax to see if they advise using both the 'wash in ' and then the 'spray on!'

WARNING!
Do not use on North Face or Musto jacket as the lining will disintegrate no matter if you respect the instructions. 2 jackets in the bin. Never again.

Excellent Waterproofer.
Over the years, I have used Nikwax Tech Wash on different waterproof coats, and I have never been disappointed with the results. It is really easy to use in the washing machine or by hand. Buy it, you won't be sorry, it keeps your waterproof coats in tip top condition. Would highly recommend.
