Q3 Baton and choice for me and Q4 Baton is a tool factory. Both great work
I bought the Q2 Q3 and Q4 to base this review upon. I will try to be aiming at the point of information. The Q2 was not for me because of the screwing flashlight and lack of other tools. The Q4 was available on Amazon before the Q3 so I bought the item and then bought the Q3 baton from SOG because of no stock here on my first choice Amazon. Both the Q4 and Q3 are very inventive tools with great potential but are also different enough to point out these issues. The Q4 baton has a ton of tools and mega screw bits that have to be kept in a separate case (very nice); but the one I received was not super strong on the lock up. Now given some personal work this is a powerful tool and if you are doing lots of screwdriving or bit adjustment this multi tool has a fabulous organized collection of great pieces. The other normal high use tools and powerful pliers also are all part of this unique product. But the Q3 baton was my choice right out of the box. I was really looking for the method that SOG used to combine multi tool with tactical pen and still provide the tank strength that I expect from this company. For me the fewer bits was a great trade off for the unique and powerful tools at both ends and the lockup was like one powerful tactical pen. The tools needed to bit of WD40 and work to provide the real mixture of self defense and utility tool for folks who do more construction and fixing then I. I didn't like having 2 parts in the Q4 case for the huge bits and I was looking for something that could be used as a pen type design that would also be quick to use as a kubaton and a breaker with using the locking tools on both ends to remodel a military vehicle. The pen position on both models is a bit heavy and is easier carried in your pocket. But with some titanium and other tweaks the Q3 will be a great double duty item. I am giving these both 5 stars and my love of tactical pens and multi tool knife items is really given a great tool for the Q3. I am always keeping my eyes on SOG. These are why!!!!

Almost perfect
It's almost perfect I love the ratcheting driver however when you're using the pliers they tend to slide a bit that's the only concern I have outside of the fact that the other tools are kind of useless compared to the ratchet driver I don't see a point and having another flat head and the file kind of sucks all in all just change the four tools out for something a little bit better and keep everything else the same. But then again it is a $40 multi-tool which it's kind of well worth the price just for the ratcheting driver and the fact that it fits a lot better than most multiples With a little extra effort this thing could be the perfect multi-tool.

Great Overall Tool, One Slight Drawback
This tool is perfect for carrying around in my day bag or even in my pocket while at work. I purchased this tool after looking at a few multi-bit driver multi tools. I ended up going with the SOG because it’s a reliable name, it has a ratcheting bit driver, and it comes with the largest selection of bits from the ones I looked at. This tool fit the niche I needed it for; I work in an office as an IT assistant and am often times needing a knife to open boxes, or needing a screwdriver for opening up computers to replace hard drives, RAM, and the likes. The multitude of bit drivers are helpful for unscrewing small pc parts, and the small knife is perfect for opening boxes. The only drawback to this item that I’ve found is the pliers. The pliers themselves are really good quality and work great, until you have something to grip that is wider than about a half inch. I’m not sure if anyone else has mentioned this, but at that point, the handles tend to slide up on one or both sides. Perfectly fine for small bolts or stripping wires, but if you’re trying to hold on to something tightly, having handles slide up on you can ruin your grip. Overall, this was a fantastic purchase, and I would absolutely buy another one. This would make a great gift for a son’s birthday or for Father’s Day. The only thing I would change is possibly adding a locking mechanism on the handles to keep them from sliding too easily.

Very nice unit
Very innovative design. Much less bulky and still manages to add new features. Didn't realize that the hex driver ratchets. Overall, a really cool addition to my edc tool box.

Love it
Sometimes the handles start to close while trying to use the pliers. But otherwise it’s great and highly recommend

it was a nice thought...
oh sog how rarely you disappoint me! this was a really innovative concept and a nice thought but overall will not be my go to for multi toll purposes... things i liked - this is a heavy (a bit heavier than expected), well built and durable tool. i feel like i could use this as a backup hammer in a pinch and, as per usual, sog quality hardness. the carrying case with magnetic closure and extra bit holder was a nice touch although i wish that also had a clip or other carrying means on it. the tools and bits included are practical and nothing overly superfluous. the pliers have a good consistency and spring action to them with a surprising ease of opening and closing. definitely is a sog quality product for durability overall... however, those good points noted, here's what i disliked, found annoying, or was downright disappointed with - not sure if this is was just mine but handle tools were incredibly difficult to pull out. the pen blade in particular really needed to be pulled hard to the point where i felt i might break a nail in the process. the unlock button for tools deploys them all at once (or at least you must pull all out in order to get to whichever tool you need) and that i found annoying and unnecessary. the bit side buttons (it seems there are two) on other end were... confusing to say at best. one seemed to either not work at all or was simply poorly made and rendered it unnecessary... the second 'button' i have to admit i'm still not sure of its function even after reading the instructions...aesthetic appeal as an accent maybe? the carry case and extra bit holder is again, a nice touch, but would have loved to have a clip or other carrying method on it. also (baton must be closed to store in there) when pulling out baton the case is so snug it automatically opens the pliers, more of an annoyance than a serious problem though... maybe i'm just being overly picky but i've come to expect very high quality and function from sog so this was a bit of a let down for me. overall conclusion, beautiful to look at and never hurts to have an extra backup multi, but for function and practicality my leatherman will be my go to.

Great Multi Tool for General Home / Office Use
I own a Leatherman which is usually in my hiking bag, so I was looking for a new multi tool to keep around the house for projects and random fixes. This design fit the bill, and has a lot of features that others didn’t have such as the ratcheting driver. Really like the unique style as well, very different than most traditional multi tools.

Outstanding Tool - But Not EDC
SOG Q4 Multitool with Hex Driver set is a solidly built multi-tool with some unique features that impressed me. The unique way the SOG tool pulls apart to expose the pliers made deploying and stowing them a rather easy task. I found the pliers strong enough to easily hold and loosen all but the tightest nuts that ultimately required a socket to loosen. I also cut 14-gauge wire with no problem. Another nice feature I found was the ability to unfold and lock or fold and lock the knife with the push of a button on a spring lever. (My fingernails are saved trying to dig for the little tab.) On the other handle, there is a combination slotted/Philips’s bit that fits into a ratcheting bit holder. All of the supplied bits Very nice While there are good things about this tool, there are also some shortcomings concerning SOG Q4about the multi-tool, especially as it touts itself as an Every-Day-Carry (EDC) tool. To me, EDC means something you carry on your person every day. The long, slim profile at 7 inches and weighing 6+ oz. is difficult to carry. It is like walking around with a big, heavy screwdriver sticking out of your pocket. Other EDC multi-tools come with a belt sheath so it can be worn for EDC. THIS ONE DOES NOT. The case is approx. 1 1/4 inches square by 7 1/8 inches and houses the extra screwdriver bits. It would be good for a backpack or carry bag, but not on your belt or pocket. Although I will not use the SOG Q4 for EDC, I have found a place for it in the glove box of my car. You never only when you will need pliers, a screwdriver, or a knife
