Easy to learn new pitches
This was the best gift to give to my baseball player. He always would ask me to look up videos on different pitches. After getting this he has improved his pitching style!

Cool for learning a few pitch types
I ordered this for my son who wanted to learn some different pitches for a science fair project. (He was evaluating how finger placement impacts ball movement, and therefore, which pitch type yield the most strikes.) In theory, the ball is great for young people who have no idea where to start for different pitch types. The ball seems quality enough, but even with the instructions, some of the finger placement is “interesting.” My dad, who was a pitching coach for many years, disagreed with some of the finger placement, which gives this ball a lower rating for accuracy. Of course, different pitchers throw some pitches differently. I wouldn’t argue with Roger Clemens (whose name is on this product), but perhaps some of the recommendations were lost in translation. I wouldn’t suggest this ball for someone who has access to the wisdom of pitching coaches, but for a kid trying to learn a few pitch variations on their own, this is a pretty cool idea.

Training tool only. Not for full-speed pitching.
Out of the box, the seams have bulges in a few places. Because of this, the cover is loose and the slider position does not line up correctly over the seams. This is not insurmountable, as you can still get the idea of where to teach the young pitcher to hold the ball. But with these immediate issues, I will use this as a training tool and not as an actual full-speed throwing ball. Once my players get the grip down and feel confident with finger positions during slow toss, I will be transferring them to a game ball. Especially with the seams, I do not want pitchers learning to use these bulges, picking up a habit that will not be available in an actual game.

Nice finger placement marks work.
It is a great ball. It is helping my sons pitching . It would be 5 stars but it scuffs easily if it moves across asphaltor concrete with any speed behind it.
