I live in Southern California, so I cannot write this review in terms of how well it helps with the humidity of the desert air. However, I steam clean my apartment carpet once a month and it takes a minimum of two full days to even see the carpet BEGIN to dry. The complete drying process must take somewhere between 4-6 days (depending on the weather, how often I step into the room to grab something, if I have the window open and using the AC, etc, etc). I started to look for a dehumidifier to help speed up the drying process. I absolutely hate waiting for the carpet to dry because I can't walk across it for hours at a time, and mold began to develop in the carpet (I can smell the moldiness develop = which is not good for my respiratory health).Previously I've already tried opening up the windows, using a fan, using the AC and none of them really helped dry the carpet. It was just a wet mess.Oh my goodness. I just steam cleaned the carpet this weekend, excited to use the dehumidifier. Now I can't wait to write a review on it. I steam cleaned my carpet in the morning around 8 - 9 am. I turned on the dehumidifier and left a rotating fan on (the fan that rotates side to side). By the afternoon (I couldn't believe it) the carpet was already 40-50% dried! Something I would have had to wait for a full day to pass. By 4-6 pm, the carpet was 90% dried (with some partially moist patches here and there). The dehumidifier must have pulled like 3 cm of water? Barely anything BUT the thing really help speed up the drying process in about 12 hours.Again, I can't say if it helped with the humidity in the air but it definitely helped with my carpet drying process (which is the real reason why I bought the dehumidifier in the first place). I am looking forward to steam cleaning my carpet next month!**The room that I used the dehumidifier in is about 100 square feet.

This unit replaces a RainyB unit that died. This MAKAYLA unit does a wonderful job, better than the unit it replaces. We use it in a 37 foot travel trailer to keep down the moisture in the air especially when cooking and when the AC is not on. It is used in the main part of the trailer that has a giant slide on the driver's side, and a small slide on the passenger side. I think this would be about 150 square feet (maybe a little less), and about 6ft 4" from floor to ceiling. If you know how to figure cubic feet from those figures that would be great. The unit is quiet, but not soundless. We have noticed little to no condensation on the windows in the morning, but also this is the end of February, but we do live in a humid southern state and heading for Spring here. As I write this the high today will be a humid 82 degrees. These little portable units do not have a compressor so they are unable to do zero humidity, but they do great job for what they are. I am considering purchasing a second one of these MAKAYLA units as we head into summer to use in the more forward part of the trailer which is the bedroom. My old RainyB unit displayed temperature and the moisture in the air, which I found very helpful and miss on the new unit. The new unit can light up in different colors which, imho, is just silly and useless. I am not discounting a star for this because I knew of this silly feature when I ordered the unit. Otherwise, at this time, this MAKAYLA unit is a five star product which I would buy again, and recommend to others.

Works pretty well for its size. I purchased it for a small bathroom because the ceiling ventilation is not functioning correctly. It does get the moisture out but it takes about an hour or so for the steam to be removed. All in all good for the price and size.

I bought this to get rid of the musty, mildew smell that was permeating my clothes in a large walk-in closet. In just TWO DAYS the odor and dampness was was completely gone. My closet sits over a concrete basement which became flooded from all the spring rains. We hired a professional to clean and seal the basement, but when we returned from an 8 week trip the residual musty smell was overpowering. We bought a large dehumidifier for the basement, but it didn't help with the smell upstairs. I saw this and decided to try it (I had no idea that dehumidifiers came in small units). It worked!!The unit fits just inside the closet door (close to an electrical outlet), and it's small enough to not require a great deal of space. There's a small, clear plastic, covered water container in the bottom that (EASILY) pulls out to empty. The unit is very quiet and the "night lights" can be turned off with a quick button push. If I forget to empty the container the unit will shut itself off so I don't have to set yet another "Alexa" reminder.The best return on an investment this year! I'm going to purchase another one for the utility room.UPDATE 8-3-2023The fan on the dehumidifier stopped working almost a year to-the-day after I bought it. (I did run it 24/7 for a solid 9 months.) When I checked contact the seller through Amazon, my quirie was sent to another distributor not the company that sold me the original product. The company contacted was LITERUIY. Their customer service was absolutely amazing! After a few emails to gather information, I received an email essentially stating, "We are proud to carry this product, and, although you did buy it from us, we will replace it." It arrived today. This particular distributor believes in and stands by their product. Look for LITERUIY if you are considering buying this product. (And I'd still highly recommend this particular unit.)
