If this is sand why is it grey and chalky?

Good morning, Thank you for your interest in out Bathing Sand product, please be advised that this is a special type of sand called Sepiolite, which has very small, fine, soft particles. These characteristics make it ideal for penetrating the animals coat and absorbing and removing impurities as the animal rolls around in it. The colour can vary sometimes, and it should not be like ‘normal’ sand, which would certainly be too coarse and gritty which could result in damage to the animals skin and coat condition. Can I use this for my Robo Hamster?

Yes! I've been using this for my robo for almost a month and she absolutely loves it. The grains aren't that fine so there isn't much worry for respiratory problems.
