Should have bought one sooner.
My wife is an artist. Therefore, I am regularly measuring for art installations. I cannot believe that I did not acquire one of these sooner... gone are the days of me fumbling around by myself to measure a space with a manual tape measure while she confers with the client. The unit is simple, efficient, quiet, unobtrusive... professional. And it's small and light enough to carry around all the time anywhere with enough battery to do so. I'd give it 6 stars if I could.

Spot on accurate short distances so far
Using a yard stick against multiple surfaces, it always shows 3.00 feet... white paint, black felt, sheetrock, carpet, pluwood all the same. Accuracy not described as a percentage... so is the states accuracy per foot, or at maximum distance.. confusing will have to test know longer distance in the newe future but impressive so far. Noticed it was dead after 2 days of sitting in the car after a full charge, but a few times thus it hasn't happened again. I think the wires inside the case pressed the on button enough to leave it on unknown to me. I rearanged the wires and put the device in upsidedown so there is more space around the on button when closing the case and haven't had the battery drain issue again so far

Accurate, but not great build quality or battery life
This is a very tiny laser tape measurer and is pretty easy to use. It's lightweight (I'll come back to this in a bit) and easily portable. I appreciate the carrying case and keyring-like quick disconnecting lanyard. The charging port is sealed with a rubber stopper to help keep it water resistant. It charges up very quickly (which I'll touch on as well). Accuracy is good, at least as far as I could confirm with my other tools.Okay, going back to the lightweight aspect, it feels too lightweight, as if there's hardly anything inside. That makes it feel cheap, as it doesn't have a robust feel to it. I stuck something to the front and when I tried to pull it off, the faceplate started to separate from the body. Not impressive. The other bad thing about being lightweight is I know that batteries weight a lot, especially as they increase in capacity. So the battery must be pretty tiny, which is reflected in how quickly it seems to use up power. It's not enough to get through a full day of constant use. On the plus side, with such a tiny battery, it charges up very quickly.I did have some issues with my unit. One time, after just charging it and using it once or twice, it froze in the "on" state, with the screen lit up and the laser on. It wasn't taking readings and would not turn off. I had to let it run itself dead, which took a few hours and surprised me as it usually seems like it dies with way less use when I'm only occasionally activating the laser and taking measurements. Once it died and then I charged it up again, it was back to working normally and I haven't had that problem since (knock on wood). The ad materials show it getting dropped in water, so I tested that out, dropping it about 6" into a 1" deep puddle a few times and it's kept working just fine, so it seems to be decently water sealed. Outdoors, the laser is too weak to work in direct sunlight, but function for short distances in indirect sun and shade. The screen is hard to read in the direct sun, so I'd say it's not the best for major outdoor use.Overall, I don't think it's a great value. While it's nice looking and has some decent features, it's a bit expensive for a basic laser tape and I'm concerned it wouldn't hold up to heavy duty use. I do get a fair amount of use out of mine in a non-construction setting, so wear and tear is minimal and it should hold up fine to drops, but don't expect it to be a contractor grade tool.

Good for home, Short battery for field
In our home, this laser measuring tool is used for occasional, simple, point-to-point measurements; we have no use for the other built-in measuring tools. It's nice that it can easily switch between inches and feet for me, and meters when my wife wants to use it (she's Brazilian, I'm American!)For our purposes, it is straightforward to use. Press & hold the red triangle to turn on; Press & hold FUNC/UNIT to switch units; Press & hold the white rectangle to toggle between "measure from front" and "measure from rear" depending on need; Finally, press & hold the red triangle to start the "continuous measurement" mode. Press & hold the red triangle to stop continuous measurement at any time, and press & hold CLEAR/OFF to power off.Measurements are accurate enough for our purposes, such as measuring the width of a window opening or the length of a living room wall. In inches, it measures up to 16ths of an inch; in meters, it measures up to 3 decimal places. In continuous measurement mode, measurements are updating multiple times per second, so measuring when holding the unit does not work due to natural movements in the hand. It needs to be set it on something solid like a table or the ground for the best results. We do not require ultra-precise measurements when holding the unit in our hand, so we are comfortable with this.Note that this unit has a 3.7V 180mA lithium battery according to its rear casing, so it has a short runtime in continuous measurement mode, because it is constantly shining the laser and running calculations multiple times per second. We only use it occasionally around the home, so this is fine for our purposes. If used frequently in the field, I imagine it would need to be recharged at least once per day. Unfortunately, charge time is expected to take a couple of hours from 0% to 100% at its rated 5V 500mA speed. If field measurements are required, you would be better suited with a larger unit & correspondingly larger battery.
