I think desk fans like this have been around for decades. They're small, simple, reliable and seems to last forever. It's not silent (which is ok for me, but your mileage may vary) but for the money it's hard to beat.

moves a lot of air for a little fan, but it makes a lot of rattling noises and metal clicking sounds. especially on high setting.
