Practical and innovative advice
I have a sound problem with a building I'm renovating and purchased just shy of a dozen books on acoustics, sound studios, etc. to help me address the problem. I found this book in particular to be easy to understand, to offer creative and cost effective ideas and to concretize the theory with real examples. I'd recommend it highly to those who want to solve their sound problems.

Packed with great tips
I've seen lots of books on mixing, and often the author is a frustrated novelist and you have to sift through their life story before they tell you anything relevant. This book on the other hand is to the point, packed with great tips, and best of all backs up techniques with industry and acoustic background. Bobby is very generous with his knowledge, unlike others who often covet, so this is a great find. The Producer/Engineer interviews are very enlightening, and give revealing context. Love this book!

Great refresher in how to treat your room for sound
The physics of acoustics haven't changed since that knowledge was discovered. Even though this was written some time back, the information here is valuable and just as relevant as the day it was written.

The bible of home studio building
This reads like the holy bible of studio acoustics.Although technology has advanced, acoustics has largely stayed the same so this timeless advice is useful for years to come. I am currently in the midst of building a personal home studio and this book has saved me a ton of money (by not just purchasing panels all willy nilly and giving me DIY options on construction techniques) and served as a guide giving clear direction on what to do next.I'm not building a commercial studio however, so I cannot comment on this part but it does look to be pretty thorough in that regard as well. Enjoy!

The DVD that comes with it is nice, but not a lot to it so wouldn't ...
About half-way through it and thoroughly enjoying it. Provides enough information for beginner studio builders, but not so much to get lost in complicated problems of sound. The DVD that comes with it is nice, but not a lot to it so wouldn't say it's necessary if buying used.

Acoustic Design
Since I knew nothing about audio studio design or listening area design these were all new to me. They do a nice job of treating the subject with both history, math, and physics. Those are the things that make up acoustics and what you have to learn. So they get five stars. These books all overlap but each is a refresher and builds on the next. So none of them are a waist. You could do with just one or two but I don't honestly know which ones I would pick.

Buy this book first!
I purchased 4 books on studio building. This is by far the best book for in home studio information. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who wants to build a home studio. Most of the other books were techno babble and were too in depth. they will come in handy later. This book really tells the hows and whys about designing your studio. It also tells you how and where to save costs. One of the best things about this book is it tells you what won't work and why. I found that priceless.
