Orbit 57280 3/4 Inline Sprinkler Valve

Work way better than the older designs, they always seep and I replace with these. Do yourself a favor and install the manifold with unions and replaceable orings

Orbit 1" Automatic Sprinkler Valve. I used to replace existing valve. The new valve is a fraction of an inch shorter than the old one but works fine.

These solenoids do not operate in the conventional on/off manner until the following setup procedure is completed. Read the manual. 1. With no water pressure (pump off), turn the solenoid full CW until fully closed. 2. Turn the pump controller on to get water pressure; any controller zone currently selected is OK. 3. Turn solenoid 1/4 to 1/2 CCW for a few seconds until you see that zones sprinkler head spray. 4. Now quickly turn the solenoid full off (full CW). This is known as a manual air purge and is necessary for the controller to work the valve correctly.5 The zone is ready for correct operation via the controller. NOTE: The solenoid should stay in the full CW position (labeled "off") for normal operation. This should not have been left out of the instructions. The "OFF" SUGGESTS THAT THE VALVE IS OFF WHEN FULLY CW, BUT IT IS ACTUALLY THE NORMAL OPERATING POSITION. ORBIT..get it together.

I had a pretty bad leak on one of my valves due to a damaged diaphragm. I used this to replace the entire valve on the bad valve on my Orbit 57253 3 valve system. This was a very easy fix thanks to the easy detachable parts and I no longer have leaking sprinkler heads. My only complaint, not really related to this product is, a replacement diaphragm is 50-60% the cost of an entirely new valve.

Good quality valve that is still working great 2 years later

We live in the "high desert" of CA, annual rainfall is about 10", and that is mostly in the winter. I put together a 6 manifold system. The controller has a glitch, it won't let you program #5 and #6 unless you start with #1 and reset (or maintain) the settings and just go in order. I have them in a little shelter so they do not get any sun and are at an easy hight to work with. They all worked for the first six month growing season. Two did not survive the winter, although I thought I had drained all of system. I replaced them. NONE of them survived the second winter although after I turned the water supply off, I left the system on for a day to be sure it drained the valves. Two will not turn off, 4 will not turn on. I did all the things the on-line fixers recommended, even buying 2 new solinoids, which did not solve the problem. So, I am buying new ones, same model, since they will be easy to plumb in, I think this winter I will take them out of the system and put them where freezing is not an issue, and put a drop of oil on the solinoid. The cost is small compared to the value of vegetables we grow, let alone the flowers and shrubs. My experience with Chinese products is that quality control is missing, so sometimes you get a good one, sometimes you do not - 10 electronic things failed in my new Audi - all made in China - in the first 50,000 miles, none of the replacements have failed in the second 50,000 miles. 3 of the 6 have failed, and, and 3 are going into their next season. Well drained when turned off, no water in lines in or out.

When I was turning on my sprinkler system for the year I noticed that 2 of the 3 valves were leaking around the diaphragm. I also noticed that all 3 were different manufacturers. I decided to replace all 3 so they were all the same age and make. These were the same ones found at my local hardware store, but a lot less expensive. After digging out the box a bit and removing the old valves and sealing the threads with Teflon tape, instalation was a breeze. Once everything was tightened up I turned the water on and ran each station checking for leaks. None were found, so we'll call this one a success. Only time will tell how long they will last, but for now I am more than satisfied.

Direct replacement for my previous orbit valve. Make sure to check the correct voltage options. Works as it should. Good price compared to elsewhere and has the option of regulating flow when activated.

Does what it should and no complaints.
