Yes. This "charger" sucks for charging. It works well for mounting the phone. Just useless to charge wirelessly

Will a magsafe connection work with apple carplay the same as a direct usb to lightning connection? my car does not support carplay via bluetooth.

The CryoBoost indicator light is made up of LEDs which are highly efficient with an estimated power usage of around 0.5W. It is always on during charging and when initially plugging the charger into a power source. If no phone is attached, the light will turn off after 5 seconds. When a phone is taken off of the charging pad, the light will also turn off after 5 seconds.
