The Type I ACME Pigtail features a green nylon nut that swivels on a black bushing which is heat-sensitive. Between 240° F and 300° F the bushing will melt allowing the spring-loaded module in the valve to push the brass nipple back (approximately 1/4") closing the module and stopping the flow of gas from the container. Inside the brass nipple is a flow-limiting device designed to sense excessive gas flow. If an excessive flow is sensed, the flow-limiting device shuts the flow down to a maximum of 10 SCFH. This is also referred to as the by-pass flow.

Great American Made Product
I bought two of these hoses and their auto change over regulator. It was nice to be able to buy a product made in America and even better something made in Texas. I believe we should all start buying American made products.

Bait and switch - and poor quality.
First this was a bait and switch. What was delivered was an off brand and not a Marshall product. The picture Amazon shows you is not what I got. Cheap construction. Second, one of the two leaks and the other was reluctant to seat. I would have returned them but was leaving on a trip and hand to make do. I managed to repair the worst one my replacing a fitting with one in my workshop. Don't buy this junk. When it comes to something as critical as a gas connection, buy in person so you know what you are getting.

Great but returned anyway
I ordered a pair of these to go with the new regulator I also ordered, but returned. These were then unneeded so returned them too. Great company to deal with.

What Can You Say About a Rubber Hose?
Good product and very easy to install. I am expecting many years of safe usage from the things.

Does what it is supposed to
Does what it is supposed to. Open the valve and then gas goes through the hose and into the trailer......
