From New York Times bestselling author-illustrator of the Llama Llama books comes a new character ready to dig his way into your heart! Here come the BIG RIGS rolling down the street. Thumpa-thumpa bumpa-bumpa BEEP! BEEP! BEEP! There's Loader and Dump Truck, Backhoe and Crane. They're ready to transform a vacant lot into a neighborhood park. And who wants to help most of all? Little Excavator! But are there any jobs for someone so small? Anna Dewdney's signature rhyming text and inviting illustrations make this a perfect read aloud for for fans of things that go! Review: Awesome! - I got this book in desertcart's book club for my little girls age 18m and 3yrs. We go to library and they have tons of board books from misc used sales, but I joined book club because I wanted quality books everyone would like and enjoy. I would have NEVER picked this book for them if I came across it, but it was a 100% instant LOVE of theirs and became a quick FAVORITE of all of ours. I am so pleased and would recommend this book for anyone. It is fun read, has a great story and pictures, and best of all has a great message. Its 5 stars all the way around. I am very thankful we received this book as we would have missed out on all the fun if I hadn't joined the book club. The other book for the month was, "Where Do Steam Trains Sleep At Night?" This too was a great book! Thank you very much. Review: My grandsons favorite and mine to read to all of my grandchildren! - This is my grandsons favorite book and mine to read to him. The words have a beat that all of my grandchildren live and smile too, they love the graphics and we all play I spy with the pictures. We talk about feelings and how everyone has special powers! Love this book

Great book for 2- and 3-year-olds who love to help grown-ups!
Highly recommended - by the author of the “Llama Llama” books (which my grandchildren also love). My 2-year-old grandson has been asking me to read this at least once a day since we received it a couple of months ago, and his 3 3/4-year-old sister also enjoys it. It’s a cute story about Little Excavator who tries to help the big excavator and other big machines as they clear an empty lot and plant trees for a new park. The children LOVE the rhythm of the sing-song phrases that are on most pages, like “Thumpa-thumpa, bumpa-bumpa, BEEP, BEEP, BEEP!” My grandson makes his best attempt at saying the first part of the phrases, then exuberantly punches his fist in the air with each “BEEP, BEEP, BEEP!” "SMASH! SMASH! SMASH!" or “GO! GO! GO!” I'm so sad to learn that the author died; I'm sorry for her family and friends, and for all the young children that won't be able to read any more of her wonderful books. The stories, rhythms, and illustrations are fantastic.

My sons all time favorite book
My son is almost 2.5 years old and since he was 2 this has been his favorite book by far. We read this every single day, and honestly it’s cute and an easy read so I am not bothered by that like I was with books prior. It’s very catchy, great graphics, and rhymes so it’s a fun read. I wish it came in a board book but otherwise no complaints. Little E is such a loveable character!

So much fun.
I am a nanny, all boys so far. This is hands down the most engaging, fun to read, interactive book for 1-3 year olds. I buy it for each child and all are crazy about it!

Great repetition and rhyming
My son loved the Llama Llama books and now that he’s three, he loves anything with wheels. This book is a home run for us. It is gentle and tells a whole story. It has good rhyming and repetition that I’ll hear him say when he’s off playing with his cars on his own. The story involves a little excavator who wants to work with the big rigs, but he’s too small. Then at the end he’s able to do a task that no one else can do because they’re all too big. It’s cute and uplifting without being over the top trying to teach a lesson.

Delightful!!
We brought this for our 3 year old grandson and it’s his new favorite book! He loves all things trucks and construction - especially “diggers”. Such a sweet story with a great message. If you have a little one who loves diggers and construction vehicles they’ll love this book. Did not disappoint!!
