The precision and quality of Engineer tools is just impeccable and they often have small innovative/thoughtful features. I've seen a few of their pliers and nippers and all were top notch, comparable in every way to the most esteemed tools from USA, Germany, and Sweden. I've used a lot of different strippers and thought I had some of the best, but wow, these are just buttery goodness like I didn't know was possible. The gauge markings on this one are for stranded, so keep that in mind. It doesn't list solid conductors on the tool and the metric markings are the actual hole diameter (not wire diameter)...the back side is unmarked. Nice light spring action, which is so much better than stronger springs, and the hinge adjustment is excellent. Mine came perfect out of the box but if you need to adjust it for preference or precision down the road, be sure to do it properly (instructions available on their website). Grips are comfortable and soft with some tack/grip, little funky design. The locking tab has play in it but doesn't move unless you tell it to, works great. This is the first stripper I've owned that had absolutely no need for removal of micro burrs or touch-ups of the cutting surfaces, very well done. The tips do not have serrations and do not line up perfectly parallel/square, which is weird, but I don't know if there is some reason for that. One of the best things about this particular model is that it covers a great range that allows you do strip finer sizes but still goes down to some sizes that are more typical in larger circuits and power supplies, plus it's compact compared to some. This will be a do-all tool for me about 95% of the time and I won't miss needing two strippers within reach. I'm not sure why Engineer tools aren't more popular than they are because they are just fantastic quality. More known for their niche screw removal pliers, I guess, and those have shifted into the "Vam-plier" marketing name lately. I'd put these and the Engineer nippers on par with anything I've seen from Knipex, Wiha, Wera, Wiss/Cooper Group, etc. and they're absolutely a step or two above Xuron, GB, Klein, Greenlee, etc...way better than the normal CHP/Hakko stuff. Worth a slot on your bench or box.

What can I say about these strippers? Well first of all they snip and strip wires with absolute precision. The AWG is clearly marked. This tool is slightly smaller than some of the American brands and I find it to be perfect. When dealing with tiny wires a giant heavy tool is simply not necessary. I’ve tested this stripper on even the smallest gauge wires and then opened up the jacket afterwards and not a single thread was there. These are precision tools that are worth at least twice what you have to pay for them. Other brands like Klein don’t even come close in my opinion. Once you start using Engineer (made in Japan), you’ll never go back to anything else. Look for reputable dealers, especially Bridge precision Tools as they only ship authentic Engineer.

I am absolutely head over heels for the Engineer Crimping Tools. Prior to buying those, I never knew just how nice a crimper could be. Maybe I had always just had crappy crimpers before, but those things knocked my socks off. They were like going from unregulated cheap soldering irons and hit-or-miss solder to a temperature regulated iron and Kester 44. Really, I adored them. So you can imagine I also expected a lot from these wire strippers. I mean, there are other good ones on Amazon for half this price. However, given my experience with the crimp-tool, I went ahead and sprung for these. Having the best tools is always worth it. Pros: The dies are bang on. They strip well. The fit is tight (the finish is wearing evenly off the blades where they rub against each other). Matches the other Engineer tool in the toolbox. Con: The nut/bolt in the center comes loose sometimes and I have to tighten it. When it gets loose, the dies BANG INTO each other instead of lining up smoothly. I'm afraid that this is going to dull the tool faster than I would like. I would really prefer for that issue to not be there in a pair of wire cutters that costs about twice as much as other good quality alternatives. Would I buy them again? Maybe. It's not a surefire thing. I like them, and I still believe Engineer is making good quality stuff. It's just not the Rolex / Heckler & Koch / Toyota Land Cruiser type of uber-quality I was hoping for based on price/reviews and previous experience with the company. I am still probably going to buy one other of their tools when I need it, maybe a diagonal cutter.

I do a lot of small-gauge electronics (Voron Trident Printer, JST and other connectors with PTFE 22–28 AWG), and these have become my go-to. The jaws are sharp and lined up out of the box, so the insulation pops cleanly without chewing up the copper—something my auto-strippers always messed up. Sizes are true for AWG 30–18, and it handles both silicone and PTFE insulation fine. The spring action feels smooth, the nose is slim enough to get into tight spots, and the cutter is actually usable. Made in Japan and it shows—no sloppy play, no burrs. Only nit: the size markings are a little small to read at a glance. Pricey, but after a week of clean strips and zero broken strands, I’m sold. If you work with thin wire, just buy them.

Bought these after being gobsmacked with how good their crimpers are. Was not disappointed. I have a fair amount of 30 AWG wire (headphones, USB strands etc) that I use and my old strippers just couldn't do this gauge well. These are perfect. Cuts the jacket without damaging the wire and comes cleanly off. Not only that, the cutters at the back of these cut well, on my other stripper, the cutter won't cleanly cut all the strands leaving you to either reach for your nippers or rip the wire. I'm replacing my whole kit with their tools. Yep. They're that good.

You can't beat Japanese precision.

OK la prima cosa che salta all'occhio sono i 30 e passa euro del prezzo ma appena presa in mano e fate alcune spelate si capisce subito che li vale tutti. Ho preso anche la sorella che arriva fino ad AWG34 che non spelerò mai, ma fino al AWG26 facendo droni e modellismo dinamico capitano e questa pinza, con la sorella più piccola, sono veramente un tool immancabile.
