Stinks like it should, called in a bull and cow to 10ft away with wind in their favor, sniffing for me and didnt bust me.

How do you really know if a product is really pee from a cow elk, taken at the peak of her cycle? You don't. I can say that this smells about like elk pee, it makes a decent cover scent during the rut, and that it has a decent sprayer and secure cap.

My husband has been trying to get an elk for some years now, and has not seen one in the elk area he has tried. We use deer scent for hunting whitetails, and it always worked well, but since all the info we have seen says the elk are not in the rut in October, we never tried elk scent. This year, he used this scent and saw elk twice. The second time, there was a 4-point bull, and he got it. So we are happy with it!

I think most of the estrus/urine products are pretty comparable in terms of stink value so I shop for price. At under $15 this is a good deal. I rip an old t-shirt into strips and spray some on it and place them carefully in brush and trees to allow for the wind to work it around. When the elk are talking you shouldn't need any but this type of scent works great just before they start talking and the cows are entering rut time.

Carlton's is/are quality products. It is what it is and it does what it does. I like the mist spray and it does not clog up. I use a lot of this stuff more as a cover spray, and no question it helps them "wonder" enough. I have watched them hit the path I walked previously. Some times they stop and slowly walk away and other times they stop and eventually walk past. Without it they almost always would stop and trot away. I have seen them smell the air when the wind was bad instead of instantly being gone. Works for me....and the cost/benefit is perfect.

While the scent seems to smell enough like elk piss, the dang thing came undone in my pack pocket while hiking and leaked all over my waistline and mouth calls that I had in pockets on the same side. I was able to wash out the smell eventually and clean the calls but geez it stunk for a while. Long story short, scent works, put it in a different bottle.
