Wonderfully illustrated with great organization
I have not yet read this from cover to cover, but, love the step by step instructions and clear photos of all the poses. Includes Asana sequences and poses arranged by type of posture serves as a quick reference for specific body areas. I went directly to the section on Lower Back as I have issues with mine from previous injuries. The text suggests 11 different poses/sequences found in other places in the book along with several others. This was purchased for a class and will serve as a reference I will turn to repeatedly.

great book!!
This book was recommended by my yoga instructor. She has been practicing and teaching yoga for 20 years and still refers to this book. Look no further for a book on yoga ...this is clear, simple and authentic. This book has a wealth of information that will teach you all aspects of the practice that will appeal to the beginners to the most experienced practitioners. Love this book!

Bought this book 3 times
I first discovered this book in the very early 2000s. It was a lifesaver getting me through days when I just was not motivated to work out. I loved how my body got more and more flexible and stronger just from simple stretches. I never even got past the first section.Then I got married and moved half a dozen times and somehow lost my book or sold it in a garage sale.A couple years later I found myself needing to get back into the stretching and yoga so I bought another copy. Again, it was a lifesaver. But just like before, I lost track of it after a big move.Somewhere in my current house I have that second copy, I just don’t know where it is. So I ordered a third one a few weeks ago.This time I am determined to keep track of it and actually get a little further into the book.

Just what it says
I feel this book does what it says, covers the basics. It's easy to read and the pictures clearly show each pose. There is more to read than expected, and it is all beginner-friendly & not over-kill at all. A good book that provides exactly what it says it will.

A Great Beginners Program.
Love this DVD. I'm a personal trainer and this DVD is awesome for demonstrating wonderful, unique and simple yoga movements to clients who aren't really interested in becoming full fledged yoga students. Beautifully and simply filmed, it instructs without being overbearing. A really great place to begin a yoga practice for those who are not naturally flexible.

Yoga
I'm a new student to yoga (only 3 classes so far) and this book is helping me understand the practice and poses of yoga. Not only am I learning in class but this book is allowing me to review the poses at home and continue my journey in the privacy of my home as well.

Overly basic
I don't see how anyone would really gain anything from this book. It is overly basic and doesn't talk at all about injury which would be very useful in yoga books. I found I read it but didn't really feel I gained any substance.

The perfect DVD for beginners
Finally, the perfect DVD for a beginner. I have purchased 9 beginning yoga DVDs and this one is absolutely the best. There's one woman on the screen showing the poses and a soothing voice over giving instructions. It's simple and straight forward without music and over done background. I highly recommend it if you like straight forward simpliciity and easy to follow instructions.
