Oil Pastel Masterpieces in 4 Easy Steps

I'm enjoying the projects in this book. At the back of the book there are many tips on how to improve your creativity on a daily basis & also a list of materials needed to start your journey in oil pastels. This book is also well presented. What I really liked about the contents is the fact that you can extend your creativity beyond the book by thoroughly following it's instructions. Also it is recommended to use very good quality materials for the projects in order not to be disappointed. Basically soft oil pastels. I sincerely recommend this paperback to newbies in oil pastel who are serious about learning this medium. Also, as far as I reckon there are not many instructional books on oil pastels that specialise exclusively on this medium alone( ofcourse this book also has mixed-media projects: watercolour & gouache with oil pastel). So grab & explore it to unleash your creativity and also to make beautiful art pieces that bring joy & happiness to you and others around you!

Love it, great for beginners, fun things to Re-create, super colorful, I’m pretty creative so it was fun to follow! I’m very comfortable with oil pastels now after practicing all of the different pics. I collect beginner art books on watercolor, gouache, sketching and acrylic painting and now oil pastels, lover her other art books as well.

Un joli livre (en anglais) pour débuter aux pastels à l'huile. Je trouve tous les projets sympas, et accessibles. Il y en a de super faciles, pour ceux (comme moi) qui n'ont jamais approché un pastel à l'huile de leur vie, par exemple, un tableau abstrait tout en courbes, un motif de minis arcs en ciel, une sucette. Ce sont les trois par lesquels j'ai débuté, qui m'ont servi d'exercices pour découvrir ce médium. Le livre commence par six pages expliquant les techniques de base, puis il y a une cinquantaine de projets en pas à pas, avec pour chaque les couleurs utilisées, le croquis, et six à huit étapes, et en bonus chaque sujet est proposé dans une version différente (soit un changement de posture, soit un changement de couleurs), ce qui fait au final une centaine de projets différents. Concernant le matériel, l'auteur recommande du papier lisse, d'environ 150gsm, blanc, coloré ou noir selon les projets. Et des pastels à l'huile soft, en 48 couleurs. J'ai donc acheté les Mungyo Gallery Soft, car j'ai lu qu'ils étaient de bonne qualité, pas très chers, et j'ai remarqué sur ses vidéos instagram que ce sont ceux que l'auteur utilise. Bref, je trouve ce livre vraiment chouette. Côté objet, il est joli, couverture souple, 192 pages, de format à peu près carré Mon seul reproche, c'est que les projets ne soient pas classés par difficulté, il faut d'abord feuilleter le livre et regarder lesquels semblent les plus faciles (parfois, l'auteur le signale dans le petit texte d'intro du sujet (mais pas toujours !))

This is a great beginner book. A lot of books say they are beginner but are overly complicated and expect you to do entire paintings right out of the gate. This one is different. It is very basic, easy to read and has small practice exercises. You can do them in order or jump around a bit. I will buy more books from this artist.
