VIM Tools HDR410 1/4" dr. Heavy duty 90T ratchet (10" OAL)

I was very very reluctant at first to purchase a vim ratchet. Don't get me wrong, they make a lot of great products, and I have a crap ton of vim in my box, but I just wasn't a fan of their ratchets. I think it's the grip that shys me away from them. I gave in though and pulled the trigger and I gotta tell you, I'm glad I did. The sheer strength of these ratchets are mind blowing!! The 1/4" does over 100ft lbs before breaking, which is freaking crazy!! The back drag on these ratchets is unbelievable!! These things are as smooth as butter and the back drag is better than most usa ratchets I own. Honestly, I think only the koken beats the back drag and buttery smoothness of these ratchets, it's crazy. I'm still not really a fan of the handle grip, but it's not the worst thing in the world. The strength of these ratchets is really crazy too. Go over to vim's channel on youtube and watch them take the 1/4" to failure, it's crazy!! I definitely would recommend these ratchets and I have recently acquired the flex head ratchets from vim as well, and I absolutely love those too!! I'm hoping some locking flex head ratchets and even a roto head ratchet is in the works over there because I'd be sold on it instantly!!

Any pressure on the switch while ratcheting, and the pawl disengages completely. Of course, this is not how to use the tool, but only my cheapest of ratchets with a high tooth count will do this. Seems like the pawl is a very sloppy fit, possibly to limit the backlash I'd imagine. Just a shame really, I do this on every ratchet I buy before I disassemble to see the design style. I have over 60 ratchets, of various type, age and brand, and only the cheapest of ratchets will slip when pressure is applied on the switch while ratcheting. Will this affect the performance? I don't know, I'm not willing to test of course, but just an uneasy feeling.

This is a nice fine tooth ratchet. The soft grip is a nice touch. The length helps preak loose those fasteners in hard to reach place or where you need the extra leverage. Definitely another great product from VIM.
