This is exactly what we expected!

Not microwavable!
I purchased this item as it was indicated that it was microwavable. I was skeptical but figured it must be coated with something that protects the metal. It is not microwavable. I was heating something up this morning and it starting sparking in the microwave, even causing damage to the gold band around the plate.
