Control System Design Guide: Using Your Computer to Understand and Diagnose Feedback Controllers

Excellent book for students and practicing engineers, alike.
This is a very good book on designing control systems. It really puts context to theory that's presented in a college 2-semester controls course series. The author helps hone-in concepts in an intuitive manner, with realtively little mathematics. I've found this to be especially helpful for understanding. Also, the use of Visual ModelQ is a great learning tool, too. I like this book, too, because it has problems in the end of each chapter the reader may practice. One especially gains an excellent, intuitive view of PID, and its derivatives, control. This book, coupled with his book on observers in control systems and Norman Nise's 'Control Systems Engineering' text will bring full, complete understanding to control systems. I highly recommend this book if you're a student or practicing controls engineer. As a student, it will augment your understanding of controls much more than a thick text and hours of lecture.

What you wish you had known
Most undergrads get taste of the theoretical side of Control Theory, but none of the practical info and practice to step up and start really solving day-to-day controls issues. This book provides that missing link. Highly recommended.

This book is one of the best and most useful control system books that I have
This book is one of the best and most useful control system books that I have, I am using it all the time and it's very practical and very helpful. If you want to review your control system's knowledge, this book a very good help.

Just Perfect
First off the delivery was perfect on time and the package arrived safe with no scratch or torn page .I can not express my sincere appreciation and the enthusiasm I have came across while reading your book. The way that the book had been written was highly powerful, rich, and straightforward to the reader. In my opinion, I’d undoubtedly consider the book as one of the most interesting and informative reference in control engineering. The examples, figures, questions & answers, PID works, tuning the control system, theories, font size & type, rapid control prototyping, patience, dedication and commitment that have been demonstrated, are really worthy and interesting. The book has helped me a lot with my work and I always keep the hard copy on my desk not only for perusal instead, as a guide to cross-check my control approach.I enjoyed the pace and hierarchical structure of each chapter starting off with basic overview then gradually moving on to mathematical proofs and ending up with the outcomes. Thankfully, the Author has closed a sound gap in this area of engineering as I strongly believe the engineering curricula taught in schools of engineering are not enough and always lack proper steering and visualization of the control system feedback and tuning. Studying this material in some schools of engineering was a bit daunting for some under graduate and post graduate students due to inclarity, blundering, hassle of required mathematics and its deep knowledge along with actions and hours required to implement the control ideas in the lab.

Printing Error
The book is very interesting but unfortunately came with printing problems, it was missing chapter 8...I tried to get a feedback about this problem but I got no answer, so I don't know if this problem was only in my book or if it was in the complete edition..

An excellent guide for engineers working on motion control
Despite its more general-sounding title, this book focuses almost exclusively on motion control, reflecting the author's career experience. It is an excellent guide for engineers working on motion control, being much more useful than a control-engineering textbook. It does not avoid control theory, but puts the emphasis on a practical approach, highlighting many of the issues that come up when designing servo-control systems for industrial applications such as manufacturing machines.

but this is not required to get a good understanding of the principles as the author provides plots ...
A very practical guide to tuing PID controllers. The author as written his own simulation software and uses it throughout the book to provide the reader with examples of how different configurations and parameters change the performance of a controller. The reader can install the simulation software and experiment themselves with the examples in the book, but this is not required to get a good understanding of the principles as the author provides plots to show the effect of changes made to each control loop.Highly recommended for anyone interested in developing his or her intuition for control system design.
