Alien Gear Holsters Shape Shift Inside Waist Band

I am a holster aficionado. A good holster is the only way you'll take your firearm with you everywhere you go. And it may be that time you need it, that you left it at home, because of a holster that is too much work to deal with. Or it is uncomfortable. I recently had purchased an Alien Gear 3.5 IWB for a firearm that this was unavailable for. While it leaves removable marks on my light colored firearm, I decided to give this a try for a different firearm. I'm glad I did. This one works like a charm. It isn't available for all firearms, but for many of the more popular options. In my case I'm using this with a Glock 23, which is heavy enough with a full load of ammo. The spread of the holster is just right. Not too much real estate taken up on your belt, but enough to spread out the weight. That is a factor not to be taken lightly. This version works so much better than the last go around with this model a couple of years ago. The footprint is reduced. The ease of getting it on and off, plus how it slides against a t-shirt (I wear a t-shirt under my polo shirt) has greatly improved. Instead of four screw points of securing this to the backing, it is down to one. Sounds bad, but so far it isn't. In the interest of safety, in case the loose end moves away from the backing, the trigger guard is secured on both sides. it snaps in, and is secure. And like the previous version, there is an included thumb release add on if you choose to use it, which means you have to press it down to remove the gun from the holster. Good if using as OWB, but IWB, I am not concerned. Once it is on your belt, your body is naturally holding in the unsecured side. This allowed this to be made smaller that the previous version, which is good. Adjustments are easily performed on the backer and belt clips, or you can also move the can't with a small adjustment to the two Allen screws. Retention can be adjusted as well. The backing is cool and comfortable, which I knew from the Alien Gear 3.5 IWB, same material. This will prevent sweat from reaching the firearm. And the sweat guard (comfort guard really) covers all the way up the slide. Extra pieces are included to use this with other shape shift mounts. The belt clips for this stay put once seated onto your gun belt. That was one of my beefs with a competitive holster that I liked. The metal clips would let the holster slide around. I need this to stay put when I put it on and get it in a comfortable spot. With this holster, that does happen, it stays put. It works. It is not something you'll regret buying. I wear this all the time. And I'm not kidding. It is comfortable, secure, and comes with a lifetime warranty. Nothing more I could ask.

I received this holster and put it on right away. Initially the tension was lose but there is a little piece/tool that I used to tighten the holster to my desire. I put it on and with few adjustments I was wearing the holster with ease. Typically with my previous Kydex holsters I would feel the high ridge of the holster dig into my side whenever I sat down thus making it extremely uncomfortable. I'm a big guy with a little gut...lol. all kidding aside. When I wear this holster I sometimes forget that it's on me. There is absolutely no rubbing/ chaffing of my skin from the butt of the gun and I no long have to wear a t-shirt inside of my pants to prevent my skin from getting rubbed. The soft material contours to your body and makes for a comfortable fit. I put on a tight dry fit shirt that I would typically wear to the gym and there was barely any printing what so ever. I then sat in my car and drove around and again the holster was a pleasure to wear. I mainly use the holster for conceal carry (iwb) and I'm completely sold. I have ordered at least 5 previous holsters and the Kydex brands and just not comfortable for me. This holster is easy to adjust, wear and conceal. I will be ordering more for other fire arms.

This is a well designed, well thought out holster. The materials are comfortable and it carries well with a good gun belt. I like how there are several accessories you can purchase to maximize your use with this one holster. With that said I don’t love everything about it. Most of this is subjective so your mileage may vary. First, reseating the pistol isn’t easy and takes a lot of practice. I can do it ok now but I practiced for a few hours at the range in order to get the motion and correct holster positioning down. That being said I feel better with an appendix carry holster BUT this is where the Alien gear really shines because you can purchase an add on kit that will allow you to appendix carry this holster. That feature really was a selling point for me and it works well. The other area that I’m not a fan of is getting the thing off quickly. The guy in the video puts it on like a champ but I still have problems but mainly have issues taking it off. I’m not fat and I don’t have alligator arms so I can get back to the 5 o’clock position just fine. The clips are good but in a pinch where you need to take your rig off quickly in your car or something... you’re probably going to have to drop your pants or something to get it off. Alternatively this does say the retention works well but in this case it works a little too well. I would like to see Alien Gear work on a quick detach device of some sort so that you could easily get the rig off if need be. Otherwise this is a really nice piece and is currently in my winter rotation of holsters. I would purchase this item again.

Absolutely love this holster system. The audible click as my Glock48 sets into the holster is extremely satisfying, and alerts me that the gun is secure. The quick adjust made it very easy to set the tension on the holster to what I preferred. It is extremely comfortable on the body, and depending what I plan for the day I will wear it at either the 3 O'clock position or 5 O'clock. I live in NY, so I am only able to conceal, but the "shapeshift" feature to swap between conceal, open, shoulder, drop leg is a GREAT feature I wish I was able to utilize. It's extremely quick and easy to do. This came with the Concealed pad and shell, and the finger retention shell. (You would need to purchase the OWB clip separately.)

I consider this the perfect holster for multiple reasons. First, the materials that make up this product are high quality and feel sturdy. The felt that comprises the backing is soft and breathable, without feeling low quality. The belt mounts it comes with are improved as they don't have screws, they are replaced with hardened plastic that can move to your liking. My M&P Shield fits snugly in the holster, but only after I adjusted it on the side. You can adjust the depth of your holster very easily, which I'm a fan of. There are no screws whatsoever on the frame, which makes everything lighter and less possibility for mechanical failure and malfunction. And the fact that it's made in the U.S.A. is also a huge plus for me, always want to support our guys. Overall, very amazing holster I'd recommend to anybody.
