I had no high hopes for this fiddle and understand that it will never be played at Carnegie Hall. But I was amazed at the tonal quality and resonance that it had. I have played violin and we got this for our granddaughter, who is taking orchestra and violin now in school. She loves it too. What I am saying is, this is a perfect purchase for a kiddo just starting to try out the violin. It certainly will not discourage them by the tonal quality. Then, if the kiddo shows an interest, go ahead and get one of the higher quality fiddles. You will save a lot of money in case they find out that violin is not for them. But this violin will not dissuade them in the process.

Disclaimer, I know next to nothing about violins; this was a starter violin for my 6th grade daughter as she is taking an elective violin class at school. OK. For the price, cannot be beat; this is a working violin, i mean it sounds like a violin to my untrained ears, the sound may not be deep or rich, or whatever other adjective violin players use, but hey! for the price, you can get to verify if the user likes it short term, and then move on to a better one. I took it for a tune up to the local music shop, the guy took maybe 5 minutes to fine tune it. He said it was a good little starter violin, but do not expect much than that. The music teacher did say that the bow was kinda crappy, so we bought a better bow ($50) made of real horse hair (I believe) and bought better rosin. Other than that, the case is great, and the other things that came with it, like the chin holder and tuner, is a nice plus. So if you are barely starting out with the violin, and don't really know the future, this is a great buy.

I purchased this as a warehouse deal. I'm not sure if that's part of the issue or if the violin would have arrived like we received it. There were multiple things wrong: -the strings were put in backwards and unusable once we tried to fix them -we were only given 3 extra strings (not 4) -the bridge was installed incorrectly and would not stay in the correct spot even after multiple times of trying to get it to work -there was a hole in the bag Needless to say, the violin was returned. We were hopeful because it looked like a nice violin and there were other good reviews. It didn't work out for us.

This is a great violin\fiddle for a new learner. I bought it to relearn to play. I was disappointed that the included lessons were for the guitar/madine only. No violin or fiddle lessons are available.

This is a good quality instrument for the money. Nice case and accessories as well. When it arrived, we took it to the local music shop and had it tuned and checked out. We were told that this would be perfect for our 8 year old granddaughter to learn on. This is what she wanted for Christmas (from Santa).

I’m a professional musician who’s been playing music for over 40 years with a home studio. I like to have as many instruments around if needed to record a song or just little production ideas that call for different sounds/instruments. I like to have the real thing and not synthesized sounds, if at all possible. I recently purchased a good and inexpensive Pyle power distribution rack and was pleased. So, when I saw this Pyle violin for the low price I thought I would try it out. I’ve supplied pictures of the packaging and unboxing to show that this really is a comprehensive starter kit for someone wanting to learn violin. This is basically the equivalent of those guitar starter packs that come with everything you need to learn about the instrument and to get started learning to play it. Therefore, it’s not the kind of thing that’s going to satisfy an experienced violin player but that’s clearly not the intent of these affordable instrument kits. I’m impressed with everything that comes with this kit including a tuner, extra strings, and a great case! For the price I would highly recommend for someone looking to get started playing the violin.

It looks good, but plays terribly— barely makes a sound. I think the bow is the issue though and could be replaced… but they aren’t cheap on their own! I would suggest paying a little more for something with higher quality.

I always wanted to play the violin, and now am greatly enjoying fiddling around with this affordable violin kit. Would probably want to replace it down the road if I wanted to get serious about playing, however it’s a great beginner kit. The instruction manual was not very complete, but after rosining the bow for about ten minutes, it was up and playing. The strings are hard to tune, because the knobs are very sensitive, but the tuner was very easy to use and seemed very accurate. The case is really handy, and the kit comes with extra strings. The violin itself seemed decent quality, and I have succeeded in getting some good sound out of it. Overall I really liked the kit, and it seems like a great option for beginners.
