I've been using these for over a year now, and even though the teeth aren't effectively placed, these still work pretty well and are strong. My only gripe is that you have to wear thick gloves if you intend to use these for extended time periods.

These are pretty cheaply made, but they get the job done and the price can't be beat.

Nice set, cuts wood well enough, I just with the teeth were a bit more aggressive on the stroke. They get into places larger rasps cannot go, but it takes a bit longer the shape the surface with the shallower teeth.

Inexpensive set that works great for rough carving soapstone. I have used these for years and needed some for friends so I purchased some extra sets. They were shipped very quickly. Would recommend to anyone doing carving on soapstone but only for the rough cut because they are very coarse.

This are cheap, Chinese rasps by all means, but that does not mean they are useless. Good, sharp rasps with many burrs/teeth (whatever they are properly called) will cost a pretty penny, usually no cheaper than $20-25 per rasp (a similar 8-piece Italian set will cost at least $180). I highly recommend getting a fine set of a rasps from Corradi if you can, as they are one of my favorite tools for sculpting hardened epoxy clays like Magic Sculpt or plumbers putty, and of course best on wood. This set of rasps however is what is usually referred to as "student rasps" due to their lower quality, having less burrs that aren't as sharp. These rasps fall more in the "coarse" category of rasps, but I often find their teeth not all that great at grabbing material. Some rasps in the set are better in the others and they don't feel to me to have much consistency in how well each burr is made. Regardless though, I do find these handy at times, especially when I don't want to wear down my expensive rasps for work that isn't very detailed. They would probably would best on wood (like most rasps) and perhaps soft plastics. Anything harder they can be a bit frustrating to work with, but if you're aggressive with them they can still coming in handy. Just don't expect to get a lot of detail with them if you're doing any kind of sculpture work.

If you carve wood, these files would be an excellent addition to the tool box.

Absolute junk. Finally got the chance to use the files and they won't even cut cedar... Return window is closed so I guess I'll use them for fishing sinkers, about all they are fit for. Only reason for one star is can't leave a review without giving one.

Realmente yo tenía intensiones de comprar unas limas para madera, pero quise probar estas herramientas para ver que resultados me daba en madera de huizache. Las estoy usando para hacer unas muescas a unos raspadores experimentales y la verdad están muy bien para agrandar estas muescas. Por el precio están super bien. No compre las limas porque no contaba con tanto dinero, pero estas gubias definitivamente cumplen con el objetivo.

This is very similar to the Jack Richeson riffler set, also found on Amazon. It is excellent for coarser, initial shaping of a soapstone project. I purchased both sets, sold one to my friend because, well, who needs two of the same item??
