These are the best scoby’s ever. They are large and thick. My kombucha always comes out perfect every time with these. My only issue is that you only get 1/4 cup of starter tea with each scoby. Which is not enough for me to make a gallon of kombucha. It plainly states that 1/4 cup of starter tea will only make 1/4 gallon of kombucha. Even knowing that I still consider these to be the best scoby’s of choice. Just wish there was more starter tea.

Well satisfied with the quality of this scoby. Yes, as others have said it is on the small size. Its size is 5” as stated in the description which is good for small batches. I normally brew gallon batches so I’ll be raising this baby up to size which isn’t a problem.

I tried several vendors for Scoby to make Kombusha. I first made back in the late 90s. My recommendation is to buy the starter liquid for success. Otherwise they may fail to work.

I bought two of these. They both arrived in a condition that was unusable. The packaging was leaking. And the inner foil pouch had delaminated and there was floating pieces of plastic and foil in the bag with the scoby. The first photo is the outer bag. I took a photo to show that the liquid had leaked into the outer bag. The remaining photos are of the bag containing the scoby.

This started as a very well packaged small diameter Scoby. The directions are clear and easy. I ramped up the tea amount and the Scoby went nuts. After two batches, now I have three scobies (the Scoby on the left has separated and ready to be put into two jugs.) The Scoby you get is totally live and works great. These jugs are from Dollar Tree and work awesome. Screw caps allow CO2 buildup to escape, but enough to stay to make the tea carbonated. It is great tea. I reccomend buying these scobies! Fun project for the kids. Excellent if you have gastrointestinal problems/flora imbalance. Also great scouting project.

Came intact, but with not much starter liquid. You don't need the mother and with the starter liquid(raw kombucha) you can ferment successfully. I would buy raw kombucha for my next fresh brew as the "5-Inch SCOBY" is just cellulose and isn't needed for a fresh brew and with more liquid it will significantly speed up the amount you can brew. I was able to scale it up to the amount on the instructions.

Came packaged as advertised and I followed the directions and put it in its new home. Now I enjoy Kombucha much less expensive than what you would buy at the store. Do a little research and find ideas how to flavor it with items that can be added to the tea you start your batch with.
