Polyvine Water Base Decorator's Dead Flat Varnish 2Ltr by Polyvine

I discovered Polyvine products a couple of years ago when an architect specified their finish on the staircase we were fitting. I was really impressed with the quality of the varnish and had the opportunity recently to need a flat matt seal for some decorative work I was doing. I used this product to seal over matt emulsion used over a mix of plaster and MDF (previously primed and undercoated). I wanted to keep the flat matt appearance but as the colour I used was so dark I need to seal the paint to make it wipeable and ensure finger prints and dust etc. could be easily cleaned. The varnish goes on really smoothly both with brush and roller, I didn't have to worry too much about laying it out because the brush strokes pretty much melted away on application. I've only applied two coats so far but the surface is already wipeable. I intend to do a third coat for maximum durability. I don't know why Polyvine is not all over YouTube for upcycling and decorating, their products are fantastic!

Whilst I have used this successfully on several walls, it is nonetheless worth keeping in mind that it is NOT dead flat. On my emulsioned walls it creates a very slight sheen which, when in the direction of the light, reveals any imperfections on the wall. Otherwise a great product and goes a long way!

I use Polyvine decorators Dead Flat varnish a few days a week. It's great to put on. It's got good drying time and is durable. I use over waterbased furniture paint, using synthetic bristled brush and gives excellent results every time. It's represents good value for money.

This is amazing stuff. I have dark grey paint in the hall which gets immediately marked when the kids scuff or something is leant agaknst it. Dark matte paints are awful for this. This stuff just sorts it. Makes it sightless less matt but just turns it into a firm wipeable barrier rather than chalky non durable surface. I’ve given the kitchen paint 3 coats to be super wipeable where grease etc splashes up. And coated the areas where dog shakes etc. Makes matte paint life proof.

Product is easy to use, milky in colour and in consistency, I like that you don't need to be too fussy putting it on, you don't see brush marks, covers well, dries quickly. Downside, it isn't as hard wearing as stated/implied or as I would like but overall will offer protection
