Q: Will this work in the car?

Thank you for your interest in The Surf. We recommend using this at home, office, outside, or in a classroom for a flexible work-space option. We do not recommend this in the car, since we have not specifically designed it for this purpose nor has it been through testing to validate its use and safety in the car. Thank you, ECR4Kids

Q: Would it be difficult to write on notebook paper with the textured surface? Or is it smooth enough to write on just a piece of paper?

I have students use a folder under a single sheet of paper especially writing paper. The texture is okay to write on, but not 100% smooth. We love them in my 4th-grade class!
