The Old Scofield® Study Bible, KJV, Pocket Edition Review: The Scofield Study Bible to get !!! - This is a great find for Scofield Bible advocates! I have bought one each of the four Scofield's (AKJV) that Oxford University Press puts out... and returned some, and only use their Classic edition...NOT the 'Standard', Scofield III (1967) or their 'Large (not) print editions. Why did I try each and return some of Oxford's editions, dissatisfied? Lousy printing. Period. Small font, I can live with (no smaller than 8 font), but the lightness of the printing ESPECIALLY their Red (not) letter attempt is really pathetic. Light pink. Hard on the eyes, especially when coupled with a small font. This is really sad. I once respected the Oxford editions of the Scofield. I simply cannot understand how they can go to the expense and labor of printing their Scofield's year-after-year, with such horrible printing. But, enough said. THE BARBOUR edition, answers perfectly all of the problems I had with the Oxfords'. The red print is dark red, and evenly printed. The black letter is the same. Beautifully printed. The overall construction of the Bible is solid and reflects real concern for the customer's satisfaction. The bonded leather is a smooth, supple and very attractive covering. The spine is sewn, not glued. This is really great... they include the entire book by C.I. Scofield, "Rightly Dividing the Word of Truth" at the end of the Bible texts and helps... and the Bible is still not AT ALL too "fat" because of this inclusion. ALSO, they have reproduced the 1909 Classic version, the original. All of the other useful helps, indices, glossary, Names, maps, Index, studies, etc. make it an exceptional Study Bible!! The size is quite handy... great for taking along in the car and to the meetings of the saints. I cannot recommend this Scofield Classic edition from Barbour Publishing highly enough! The look, 'feel', printing, construction, readability, usefulness and affordability are superb! If you're having a tough time deciding between a present day Oxford, or a Barbour Classic... Get the Barbour edition... and have an Oxford (Classic only) as a backup if you should misplace or leave your Barbour somewhere. (The Oxford 'Classic' does have better, darker printing, but STILL does not compare favorably to the Barbour Edition). Hope this helps! HP Johnson Review: Nice Bible! - This review is for The Old Scofield Study Bible, Pocket Edition, Black Genuine Leather, ISBN 0195271319. Sometimes desertcart will put a review about a bonded leather Bible or a hardcover edition of the same title on the page of a Genuine Leather Bible, which may weigh unfairly on a more expensive and better made leather binding. This Genuine Leather edition is a well made pocket Bible. The paper is a nice white and the printing, although quite small, is sharp and clear. If you have trouble with small print, you will be happier with one of the regular sized editions of this Bible. This pocket edition contains all the study helps of the larger editions with the exception of the maps. There is a parchment family record section, a large concordance, subject index, and index of proper names. It includes all the 1917 Scofield notes and study helps. The binding on the copy I received was well made. The Black Genuine Leather is both strong and flexible. The gold piping around the inside edges is a nice touch. It comes with a gold silk marker and gold page edges. The Bible has a nice leather smell (I love the smell of Bible leather!). The size of this edition is great for portability. It's a fraction of the size of the Readers Edition. I would recommend that a serious student have a larger copy for study and use this edition to take anywhere. It's perfect for hospital visitation or just keeping in your vehicle as you travel. The price is nice, too. A person could easily spend twice as much on a cheap bonded leather Bible instead of getting a Genuine Leather Bible that will last much longer.

Nice Bible!

GREAT STUDY BIBLE
This edition of the Scofield Study Bible has everything you need for in-depth study. It also includes Scofield's classic work "Rightly Dividing the Word of Truth" in the back of the Bible. It is just the right size to take to church, has a very readable font size and lays open in one hand. The Bonded Leather version comes in a nice sturdy box which can be used in place of a bible cover. This is a well made bible and whether you get the Bonded Leather or the hardback version (I bought both) you can't go wrong.

Wonderful Travel Bible
This is truly a well made, sturdy travel bible. One feature which sets this Bible apart is the "Montana Zipper" which fully encloses the Bible into a nice tight leather package when in a pocket or bag. I have read from the Old Scofield for over a dozen years and have been blessed to own many of these Bibles; different sizes according to the Bible's use. One delightful and intelligent feature of the Scofield is that the type is identical in each Bible, always, regardless of size. As an example, my eyes glance down to the fourth column, the last verse of page 1117, and "voila" there is John 3:16. This greatly helps in remembering "where" passages are in in the Bible. This simple feature alone sets the Scofield apart. A Bible worn out or lost, having to get a larger Bible font due to age can easily be replaced and the new Old Scofield will feel like an old friend. Lastly, this Bible is KJV, is an "Old" Scofield and really there is no other CI Scofield Study Bible. Without belaboring division; please do not buy the "New Scofield". Do you know that New Scofield KJV is not acually an Authorized KJV?? Thank You Amazon for stocking this truly beautiful, hard to find and useful Bible.

Print is too small
Wish it was larger. It's really to small as well as the print. It's hard on the eyes to read it. 🫤

Very Beautiful Bible I just love it, well made and Handy, but unfortunately a Ezekiel 4 Vers 4 to 15 was covered by Ink so I had to return and Re-orderd hopefully it comes on time. I gave 4 star because of the page messed up 😔

I'm reviewing the Old Scofield Study bible Pocket Edition (ISBN 13: 978-0195271256 ). The book has seriously small fonts. If you have vision problems, simply don't get it unless you're not gonna read it. I can read it for a short period of time with enough light. TBH the printing is high quality and consistent, but the problem is that the font is quite thin which makes it hard to read. This book would be much more readable if it used a bold font in the same size. The subject index and concordance at the back have even smaller fonts than the biblical text. The use of a magnifier is advised to reduce eye strain. Construction wise, the book has imitation/bonded leather (I can't tell, I'm not across this). Inside the cover there's paste-down vinyl liner. The gold gilding looks great and the rose gold ribbon marker is double sided and is nice and long. Book is sewn but due to its small size, it only stays open on its own past book of Deut after a few days use. It may be easier to lay flat with more break-in and use. The book is overall well constructed and I can't fault it. Content wise, the chapter introductions, notes at the bottom of the page, centre column references, subject index and concordance are really helpful. I especially like the subject reference chains. If you wanna write or underline in it, use only Pigma Micron 005 or thinner. 01 and above will bleed through to the other side of the page pretty bad. Overall, it's a great resource. The small and thin fonts limit its use because of my poor eye sight. I suggest you get the normal sized version or even the large print version unless the small pocket size if what you're after.
