It’s a Christmas gift for my 9 year old. I think he’ll love it.

If you have a kid who always wants to get into your tools and such, this is the toy. I didn't look at it too closely before I ordered, and I assumed they were toys that looked like hardware. But they are actual metal tools and hardware.My 8 year old likes building little figures, but he also always wants to play with them. Unfortunately, a lot of building toys, even quality ones like LEGO, don't hold up well to being played with. These DO. Since they are made of real hardware, they are screwed together tightly and won't come apart.The toys come with a booklet. The booklet gives you step by step instructions, and the one that I ordered has directions for 3 different robots. The one I got was for ages 6+, but my 8 year old did need help with it - possibly only because he'd never played with anything like this before. A few times we built something incorrectly, but it was easy to unscrew the wrong piece and try again.Building one of the little guys does not mean that's the end of it. Kids can disassemble and reassemble as many times as they want, or use the hardware to make their own creations. They could even add on with some spares you have lying around the house, as well.Wonderful STEM toy, great for motor skills.

I would say that if you have any kids under 5 in the house, I would discourage anyone for getting this. Product is small with very small pieces and may result in a choking hazard for small kids. Beyond that, I got this for my 8 yr old Nephew, and he had trouble with getting into it. Him and I tried to play with it and try to come up with designs, but it did not have the fun factor that you may have with building blocks. We also had some concerns with the website asking young children to sign up for social interaction. Not something we wanted to worry about for a 8 yr old. Overall, product felt as though it was well built, and has some good options. Unfortunately, my nephew did not enjoy it.
