How do I use the mods?

Our mod guy told me going into the competition mode gives the user the opportunity to turn all the mods for good: Hold X + square + circle + triangle for about 8 seconds until the led flashes purple. Then release those buttons. Hold the down direction on the D-pad and tap X. That turns on competition mode. Then press Up on the D-pad to save and exit. Now the controller is mod free. To back to the mods, do the exact same thing.
