MXR Duke of Tone Overdrive

Incredible OD and boost. It is light and touch-sensitive, but also provides plenty of sustain and warmth. Very versatile. Good on its own, or stacked for a boost. As with any OD its hard to explain without trying it yourself, but for a very reasonable price, you can have a smooth, pro-quality overdrive on your board with this.

It took about 10 minutes for this pedal to find a permanent place on my pedal board. Such great tone. Most of my pedals are Strymon or Walrus Audio, and this tiny little pedal stands easily alongside them. So far, using it as more of a clean boost with just a bit of overdrive into the Walrus Audio 385 mark ii (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CHN2H537?ref_=ppx_hzsearch_conn_dt_b_fed_asin_title_9&th=1). Great combination. Pros: GREAT tone. Easy to use/tweak. Tiny form factor to easily fit any pedalboard. Cons: I prefer ins/outs on the top of the pedal instead of the sides, though this thing is too small for that.

Designed with the master himself. What more do you need to know? It sounds amazing, and you have to keep in mind that the internal presence trim pot makes all the difference. I noticed that my copy had the trim pot set to 50% but the POT and KOT have them set at 0% out of the box. That's why all of these comparison videos don't do it justice. I have no problem with the mini form factor, and the footswitch is perfect on this. The blue LED on the front of the footswitch is also a nice touch. Open it up and take a look at how well it is built using quality parts.

It does what it's advertised for. Nice sound in the OD or Boost position. Distortion position doesn't do much, but that what I was expecting. This circuit is suppose to give a "transparent" push to the sound, and my opinion, it accomplish that. If you need a Distortion pedal, take something more specific for your needs.

Great, low-coloration OD tone, with boost and distortion modes. Stacks well with a BD-2, SD-1, and other ODs. Mini size makes it easy to incorporate into your pedal board. Very low power draw. And, just the right amount of fugly in the paint color. Great little drive pedal.

I bought this because I heard a lot of reliable reviewers say this pedal is close enough to a King of Tone for most people without the huge cost and wait list. What appealed to me was having the 3 way switch for boost, overdrive and distortion which gives me some different options for how I use the pedal in my gain stage depending on which pedal board I'm using. I've had the pedal a couple of weeks and used it at two 2 hour rehearsals at reasonable volume into a Marshall DS40c and a Blackstar Amped 2 on the 'Vox' setting. The sound is ok but the difference between the 3 settings isn't that huge to my ears. I run my amps on the edge of breakup.

Great pedal super small size for floor space economies but the big win is the tone of the pedal is great, also works well to stack tone too and great value for money

Great pedal that gets better and better at volume. With a good valve amp, you can really punch through.
