Shark Pro 900

I've never had a quieter filter of any type in my 60 years of fish keeping and by quiet I mean, you do not hear anything unless you have the optional venturi set to high and even then it's fairly quiet. The pro 900 is so flexible with three filter boxes/compartments that can be assembled into numerous mechanical, biological and/or chemical set ups as per your needs. Though not available that I can find on Amazon, you can also buy additional compartments to add to your configuration. It gives you the option of a really cool spray bar or a very nice venturi; both have easily accessible flow controls and both have very good flow which if set on max gives some nice surface wave action. It is novel with magnets and how everything fits together and honestly can be a little frustrating until you get use to it. Maintenance is still easier than most filters. Support via email is quick and thorough. All in all, this filter offers the hobbyist a lot for the money. Ben fatto, Sicce!

I bought this after watching a review from someone I trust on YouTube. Didn’t read the reviews here on Amazon. Opening the box I didn’t even need to read the instructions if you have own filters before you have an idea of what to expect from this. Pros: does its job of filtering well! The tank I have it in is overstock with messy fish. I have to do huge water changes constantly in this particular tank. This filter has been running for four days and the water looks great. I would like to point out, however, that I am using the 900 version and it is in a 29 gallon tank so it’s in a team that it is less than half of what it’s rated for That was the best thing to say about it. Here are what I don’t like about it. Build quality I do not like. The knob that you can twist to change the flow rate is very loose. On every other filter that I have, it takes some strength to adjust it this almost spins freely. Not totally a bad thing might even be a benefit to some people, but to me it just counts against its quality makes it seem cheap. You can lift the top part to expose the integrated spray bar and that top part is also loose. While setting it into the tank, I kept accidentally pushing it down. As others have mentioned, the magnets suck. There’s two different magnets. One that the output holds onto the cartridges, and one that attaches to it on the outside of your glass to hold it upright. Both suck. The one holding the cartridges, I think because the 900 version has so many cartridges and they are big that the magnet doesn’t have enough strength for all of them. You barely wiggle it around and the cartridges fall off. I don’t think you would have that issue with the smaller versions. It’s also not an airtight seal. I noticed debris going into the small crack where those two magnets connect. As far as the other magnet goes, that is meant to attach it on the other side of the glass again, I think the bigger version is just too heavy for it. Something that doesn’t make sense is on the filter itself where the magnetized section is, it is recessed into the filter, so the magnet has to work extra hard to reach that section. You would think it would be flush with the glass that you were putting it against. It simply will not hold so I am using the filter with it Just floating in the tank.

THIS IS STRESS RELIEVING FILTERING SYSTEM! We just had our hard wood floors replaced and we're running a fx5 and a 407. After avoid a near disaster because 407 seal fails and flooded bucket almost to top my wife said we cannot live like this. Thanks to the SICCE shark pro 900 we can still enjoy our 110 fish tank and all the boys. What a perfect solution to aquatic industry for easy set up and maintenance with out the stress of leaks. I'm so shocked and the water clarity and how you can customize each module to your liking. This is definitely a game changer to the aquarium hobby. Thank you SICCE for this amazing product and saving my hobby from disaster! Definitely a customer forever!

I'm mad as I can possibly get. How can a company like Sicce overlook a dangerous (to fish) design flaw? Do I have your attention now. First let me say the filter itself works great. I have it on the lowest setting and it scrubs a 49gal bow front wonderfully. But.....because of the way it attached to the glass with the magnets it leaves a gap between the interior of the glass and the back of the filter. This is a fish trap! I've lost 2 female Bettas (I'm still sad about this weeks later) and a rummy nose tetra. I've since put a piece of filter media cut to the length and width of the stackable media boxes to fill this void. Then I shove one side al l the way to the back wall of the tank to eliminate a gap there. If someone had it in the middle of the glass then you'd only have to worry about the back gap. I'm so disappointed in Sicce. I know someone in the company must have seen this potential trap and did nothing. If this review can save just a single fish then it's wort it. It's a good filter just be aware of the potential death trap for smaller fish.

I bought this a few months ago and didn't do a review right away just because I wanted to see how well this shark pro 900 works and all I can say is I just love this filter it's perfect for my 40 gallon goldfish tank it keeps the water nice and clear

Cons It releases a LOT of debris into the water upon removal, the second you turn it off and start to lift it from the water it's pouring debris and gunk into the tank. And not a little. The sponge pre filters are very large pores and do not hold material well. You cannot lift the filter from the water by holding the top. If you do it separates the top motor from the filter on the bottom and falls into the tank creating a huge mess. The top is only lightly magnetic to the base filters. It sits very close to the glass and my dwarf cory's, some of my smaller Mountain Minnows, and all of my chili's are able to get between the filter and glass and become stuck. The chili's and celestial pearl danios had to be moved, they were way too small for using this filter. Even using purigen this filter is not able to filter debris completely from the water. If you want clear water, this is not it. For these reasons alone I would not buy it again. Pros It is whisper quiet if you do not have it attached to an air line, which I do not. It is adjustable for size, the largest size can be taken down greatly in size if needed by only using one section of filter. The spray bar is not my favorite for a 55 gallon nano fish, tank. But for fish who need bigger flow this would be a nice function to use. It has some adjustability for flow and direction of flow using a dial on top and different attachments for flow. The dial for flow intensity makes it look like it has more adjustment than it really does. The compartments for media are quite small for such a large filter but being able to swap one section for Purigen and the other two for crushed lava rock for more surface area of media was a plus. My next filter cleaning I will swap out the sponges for a finer sponge media. Overall, for an in-tank filter which is (mostly) adjustable for your needs and fills the gap between a sponge filter and going all out for an external canister filter, I'd give it a low 3 stars. For functionality, design, and cost I'd give it a 2. It's a nice filter but for the mess it makes, the very cheap media it comes with, and how weak the top magnet is, and inability to clear the water it's not great.

Fast

Good filter, but the magnets are VERY weak. Had to glue one magnet to the filter, and had to place the filter on top of gravel bed for support. The magnet is only keeping the filter from falling to the side. Magnet too weak to support the weight of the filter by itself.

This internal aquarium filter was very easy to install & does an excellent job keeping my water clear!

The magnets are poor quality and do not hold. I bought 4 of them and when you change water or move them the slightest the boxes drops off the magnet and hit the fish underneath!!
