The Godfather 4K UHD

Looks absolutely amazing on 4K UHD disk. Every scene does pop from screen. As for a movie as old as this, it doesn't have sharpness as modern films, but boy oh boy does it looks brilliant. Highly recommended 4K UHD disk. And the film itself is simply perfect.

THE ONLY ONE OUTSTANDING ITEM..

Feels like I’ve lived with this movie for all fifty two years of its existence. Too young to get in to see the then X Certificate film. It was the first big book I read, the first book I read that was not Alistair Maclean. Then the thrill of the build-up to it being debuted on television at Christmas. Just like the book I thought. Then to rental VHS and eventually that black DVD box-set of the three films. But there is only one The Godfather. History told us that the director used cheaper inferior film as he had over five hours filmed. The blu rays were grainy and pale and our screens became better and bigger. I got the 4K but left it on my shelf not expecting much though it states ‘Remastered and Restored’ clearly atop the back cover. I was astonished how perfect the picture and sound quality is on my olde projector set at Dynamic via my 4K player. Even the blu ray included is only a smidge behind the quality of the 4K disc. Its the USA version replete with FBI warning. Even the subtitles are new as presented. But its that gorgeous full widescreen picture that keeps you staring at the faces and places. Perfect cinema. Ruthless but no civilians hurt, the old school mob morality has you sympathetic to the all seeing legendary figure cut by Marlon Brando, what a performance, even more distinctive than any of James Cagney’s wide-eyed killers. James Caan as the hair-trigger temper with those perpendicular shoulders. What a way to go. It is said the book and the film inspired politics. Something clean-cut about the clarity of purpose. These days clarity is to be avoided at all costs. Muddy the water to disinterest voters. Only your followers get you in. The current UK government is fighting the media tide that seems determined to paint them bad. So much competence is disconcerting to the apathetic middle-classes who see the world only through a Tax cut. Even the music over the Menu is glorious especially on headphones. Don’t forget how lonely life can be if Business is everything. Part Three had Godfather Al Pacino dying surrounded by emptiness and stray cats. The revised Coda version cleaned that up for the greedy rich audience. But there is only one Godfather movie. Certificate 15.

Amazing film. Is there anyone who hasn't seen it? The 4k remaster is worth having if you don't have this version/a capable 4k blue ray player BUT my copy froze, and so was returned for a refund!
