Excellent book!
An excellent edition of A Little Princess by SeaWolf Press, which I recommend highly. The paperback is very well printed on good cream-colored paper, and durably bound – easy to hold and read. I have ordered several of their books now as gifts for the step-grandchildren, ages 3 to 10, and I love that SeaWolf reprints the original text just as it was, along with original illustrations. All very old fashioned, of course – but I strongly believe that children ought to understand that the world did not spring into being on the day they were born! As and when they are able to read the text, they will get a good mental workout – the brain, like the body, improves with exercise. And these old books are free of the vulgarity and propaganda – of the right AND the left – that pass for “literature” today.I never see the families except for a few hours once a year when everybody travels to our house for Christmas dinner and gift-giving. There is no chance of having a chat with the excited kids, and they of course never think to give me any feedback on the previous books I’ve given – nor do their parents. But I keep sending these books and more modern ones, good stories that inform and delight – trusting that if and when the kids read them, they will get a benefit, though it may be just a little thought in the back of the mind, a lamplight on the road of life that will be helpful sometime or other. Who knows – but it’s the best this retired teacher can do for them.

A Little Princess is a royal book.
A Little Princess is one of my favorite books that I have ever read. Sarah is a little girl whose father went off to war. With her mother living in heaven, Sarah has no choice but to go to a boarding school until her father comes back. I love her personality and always wanted to be like her. She's brave, kind, and never screams, but makes up wonderful stories and can always be there to help someone-including herself.

a sweet story
This is a heartwarming and at times heart wrenching and very sweet children’s story. It helps one believe in the magic.

A Treasure
I thought the Shirley Temple movie ok and I was curious to read the book upon which it was based. The written story conveyed the emotions and imagery so much better and stronger to me than the film in a way that I am sure even children will understand. I am glad that I bought the book because I am sure that I will be re-reading it from time to time. Certainly to myself and possibly in installments to some littles that I am very fond of.

Love this story!
I first read this as a 10(ish) year old girl. I loved this as a child and I still love it at 55! It's a story that has never left me and I thoroughly enjoy reading it! I can't wait to introduce my 9 and 11 year old granddaughters to it.

It's a classic for a reason
This story centres around a child who has everything and you'd expect her to be spoiled, but she isn't. Then when her situation changes, her kindness and imagination really shine. The way she responds to hardship is a great example for both young and old readers. Very enjoyable. Got the Ambry Classic version, which was fine.

Spellbinding, thought provoking highly recommended classic..
A little princess by Frances Hodgson Burnett is surely an unputdownable classic for children in their growing up years. It is a blend of diverse emotions especially love, pride, friendship, adaptability and tolerance. It is the tale of a motherless girl Sara Crewe, raised by her loving, young energetic and extremely rich father till the age of 7. She is then taken to Ms Minchin 's boarding house in London. Sara is a natural storyteller and extremely voracious reader. She is a highly imaginative girl whose imagination in the worst times will leave the reader spellbound. Sara is also an inconquerable child who never cries. Her generosity always make her loved. She likes to pretend that she is a princess and do good to everyone. Till her 11th birthday, her life is full of riches. But when disaster strikes, her true nature and friendship is put to test. A sudden change for the worse in a Sara 's life does not change her pride or determination to brave the odds. She tries to still mentally be a' princess 'and change her miseries and conquer the situation with her pure imagination alone. Her maturity at a young age to believe that' adversity tries people ' is an amazing life lesson. It is far from a typical tale. There are times when Sara' s pride is wounded or her perseverance breaks, but this makes her character real. It will take the reader through a rollercoaster of emotions and is an overall spellbinding read...
