Reliable, Feature-Packed Smart Plugs at a Great Price
I’ve had great experiences with TP-Link products, and the Tapo Smart Plug Mini is no exception. This 4-pack offers excellent value, and setup was incredibly easy. As always, no hub required and everything runs smoothly on 2.4GHz Wi-Fi. What really impressed me is how feature-rich these plugs are: Scheduling and timers work perfectly for managing lights and small appliances. Runtime stats give insight into power usage, which is helpful for monitoring high-use devices. Away mode and smart actions add security and automation. Alexa and Google Home integration is seamless—I’ve had no issues controlling devices with voice commands. These devices pay for themselves when you calculate the cost savings they provide leveraging the scheduling features. They also have great range—I have one running in the attic and another outside in a dry box controlling flood lights, and both maintain strong, stable connections. Overall, these are smart, dependable, and thoughtfully designed. I highly recommend this 4-pack for anyone starting or expanding a smart home setup.

Very Good
This has been very good, easy to install and reliable. Others I've had in the past would constantly lose connection. Not this one. The app responds in half a second. I need to buy more for other areas of the home.

A perfect replacement for obsolete Wemo Smart Plugs.
The folks at Belkin decided to end ALL support for their Wemo Smart Plugs at the end of January 2026, which left a lot of users with a bunch of obsolete (and useless) Smart Plugs. Fortunately, if you're in that situation, the good folks at TP-Link have a perfect solution: the TP-Link Smart Plug. Having migrated from Wemo plugs to TP-Link Plugs, I can honestly say the transition to the TP-Link plugs was very smooth and free of any issues with the actual devices themselves. I did encounter a small issue when trying to program the plugs using the Tapo app, but a call to Tapo app support provided a quick resolution. I also integrated the TP-Link smart plugs with Google Home very easily to provide added flexibility and control. Since the transition, the Smart Plugs have worked flawlessly with both the Tapo app and Google Home. I'd even go so far as to say they are more reliable than the Wemo plugs. There were numerous times when the Wemo plugs would go off-line or simply disappear from the network, which then required a manual reboot of the plug. If that happened when you're home, it was simply annoying. If that happened when I was away from home, it was frustrating and very inconvenient. So the transition to TP-Link Smart Plugs has actually been a noticeable improvement over the Wemo plugs.

You get what you pay for, but still acceptable.
This product is cheap. It works most of the time. Then, sometimes, they stop working. As an aside, after setting up in the app and programming them, these switches store the program. Even if your phone is no longer in range they will actuate. I arrived back home after being away all day and the lights were on for me as I turned into sight of the house. This indicates the devices are able to operate independently of the app, your phone, or a hub. I am unsure if WiFi connectivity is required after setup, but it might be. I bought a four-pack of the P105 without Matter compatibility. These particular switches are just on/off without dimming, as they are for controlling small appliances, not lights specifically. Two of these worked just fine out of the box. They worked fine without the hub, just using the phone app. Then, after a power failure, one of them stopped working. It shows up in the app, but refuses to pair. I swapped out a third from the box of four, then sought a remedy for the failed device. I read that these can have WiFi connectivity issues, so I moved it so it was right next to my hub, started the pairing process, and set my phone right next to it (as initial pairing starts with Bluetooth). It timed out. Did the factory reset procedure. Again, it failed to pair. Reset the WiFi router, reset the internet connection, as well as restarted my iPhone so that was also ruled out. Again, it failed to pair. Tried this about four times. (I know, I know, trying the same thing over and over expecting different results and all that…) After this exercise in annoyance, I called customer service, as instructed by the app. Customer service had me repeat this entire process three more times. Then they claimed I needed to access my Tapo Network, which I do not have. A hub, which is what provides that network, is not required for this product. They continually asked me to find this, which didn’t make sense. After the third time repeating this circular process I asked for someone new as this was no longer about customer service, but a warranty claim. TP-Link/Tapo customer service has been a frustrating experience, with low ability to help when their product fails. A supervisor did call me back, asked me to repeat this whole process (fourth time for them, ninth time in total). Eventually this person agreed this was likely a warranty claim. I was asked for an email address as their warranty service only uses email to interact with customers. I was told it would take a few days to get an email from that department to begin that process. I will also be required to pay shipping. The individual plug cost me $5 plus tax, with no shipping (because Amazon Prime). The replacement cost for the warranty will likely cost me close to the same as a new plug . The hassle of dealing with customer service killed any savings from the hour wasted. The warranty might say two years, but just be aware the process makes it effectively buying a replacement. If you find the low cost to higher failure rates acceptable, this is a fine product with few downsides. If you dislike having to replace something because it stopped working, you might want to pass on this brand. If you are getting hardwired components, I hope you are comfortable reinstalling them yourself, or the fee to hire a professional kills any savings. Despite all that, I will still be using these as I was able to outfit three rooms with smart devices (10 units in total, including 4 hard wired wall switches) for less than 2 items my brother bought from a more reputable brand. It’s a give and take, and if you can be willing to trash a few in your journey then the cost is acceptable.
