These are great!
These beans are great. So let me respond to some of the other reviews. First of all, none of my cans were dented. In the past, I've received a lot of dented canned food from Amazon but maybe they changed their ways, anyway none of mine were dented. Second, people complain about the gelatinous stuff in the can. I've noticed all canned beans have some kind of starchy goo, I always wash it off. This liquid is more gelatinous, but that could very well be from the kombu seaweed that is added. The kombu was likely added to prevent the beans from causing gas, and it works. This is the first canned bean that hasn't given me gas at all - awesome! Yes, they do have 5 net carbs per serving, not 1 or 2, but that is still very low for beans. I find they work very well with a low carb diet. They are very pleasant and satisfying to eat, for sure. I have them for breakfast every day. My only reservation is that they are relatively expensive, but I do intend to keep buying them.

Tasty beans
They are low in sodium and the kombu gel sauce was perfect. Do not rinse and drain. I could eat them straight out of the can!

Great for making Instant Pot natto!!!
Great for making natto in Instant Pot!!! Please don't ever discontinue!!! To make natto, I rinsed the beans well and drained in a colander to remove the liquid. The beans don't need to be completely dry like they do when making tempeh. The beans do need a bit of moisture. After rinsing, it still had a little of the gelatanous stuff that some reviews complained about, but the natto still worked fine. I used an Instant Pot Ultra Mini, 3 qt, yogurt mode. For the temperature, I had to set in it in the Custom mode to 104 degrees, which is the lowest mine would go in Custom mode. Set the time for 24 hours, then press start. I think for other models of Instant Pot, the setting of the temperature in yogurt mode might be different. You can use a yogurt maker, toaster oven, or anything that will constantly maintain the temperature between 100 to 104 F. I first covered the pot with a kitchen linen to catch any condensation. Then I put on a pot lid that fit the container. I did not use the Instant Pot lid; I think the natto spores do need some air. Nice and stringy at the end of 23-24 hours. Put in a glass container with cover, and put in the fridge for another 24 hours to ferment some more. Lots of internet information on making natto using an Instant Pot if you are curious. Instructions online emphasize using boiling water to sanitize the pot and utensils to avoid growing bad bacteria. I'll admit that I am not that diligent. I've tried two different brands of Japanese Natto spores, and both worked great. Links below. Just a note probably best not to pour boiling water on the little tiny plastic spoons that come with the spores. Just do your best to only allow the spoon to touch the spores and the wrapper it came with. I've made the Natto in the past with cooked organic canned black beans because I didin't want to deal with the added step of soaking and cooking the beans. You can use any beans actually. But I was excited to find these organic canned soybeans for the phytoestrogens. Natto spores that I've used: https://a.co/d/ig1OZ1H https://a.co/d/2K723xh

Excellent Product
I haven't eaten this yet, but I have in the past and it's always an excellent product. I just wish it was a little cheaper, I'd be able to buy more often. Now I'm off to make some lower carb refried beans.

Carb friendly beans
Carb counters, rejoice. Black soybeans provide a complete protein and are low carb. The taste is a little sweeter than most, but this is a different kind of bean. However, the single bummer: the case I received had one definitely dented can and several with edge dents. This, in spite of what seems to be a very well-packaged case of 12 cans. There was no exterior damage to the cardboard shipping box, and the interior case box was intact. Hmmmmmm. How could this happen. (I suspect the warehouse worker just grabbed the case without regard for condition, and quickly packed it.)

A great low carb replacement for black beans!
I live a low carb lifestyle for several years now and one of the things I really miss are beans of all kinds. This product cannot be found on any of my local store shelves. My only option to have them, is Amazon and I am grateful! They are quite good! I now can have Keto friendly Spanish or Mexican flavored dishes with cauliflower rice and black soy beans. Or meaty, spicy, black soy bean chili which I now make every month! It's great to have these options. If you are like me and have to continue to keep carbs VERY low to keep weight off, put these on Subscribe & Save like I do, and enjoy some beans now and then!
