EASY INSTALLATION AND GOOGLE HOME INTEGRATION
5 Stars — Easy Installation, Fast Wi-Fi Setup, and Excellent Google Home Integration The Yale Assure Lock 2 Keypad Deadbolt with Wi-Fi has been an excellent addition to my smart-home setup. Installation was straightforward, with clear, easy-to-follow instructions. Once installed, the lock immediately recognized and connected to my Wi-Fi network without any of the troubleshooting that can sometimes come with smart-home devices. Google Home integration was equally easy and works extremely well. The lock was quickly recognized, and incorporating it into my existing smart-home setup was simple and seamless. Voice control and status checks work exactly as expected. The combination of clear installation instructions, immediate Wi-Fi connectivity, and excellent Google Home integration makes this one of those smart-home products that simply works the way it should. Overall: 5 out of 5 stars. Easy to install, easy to configure, and excellent smart-home integration. Highly recommended.

Dangerous, overheats and terrible battery usage
*****Updated Review May 2024**** Device errors and overheats I bought this lock in Nov 2022 (so roughly 1.5 years now) and would highly discourage anyone buying this lock as it is dangerous and overheats. The battery issue has always been terrible on this product. It last maybe 1 months tops before needing replacement, so I'm constantly burning through batteries. A couple months ago, the lock was low on battery, so husband replaced it and then less then a week later the lock was again low on batteries. I thought perhaps my husband mixed up the double A batteries and put the low batteries back in by mistake and just let it be assuming it was a mistake. Just last week, the lock started giving error sounds that it wasn't locked even though the door was locked and then indicated it was low battery, so I changed it. Again, less than a week later it was low battery and continued having errors. When I went to open the compartment to replace the battery, I could smell smoke, and when I removed the front 2 batteries, I could see that the top coil touching the battery was so hot it was glowing red. I immediately removed the rest of the batteries from the hot coil/device and burnt my finger with a small shock in the process. When I contacted Yale, they did a simple apology, didn't care at all that I burnt my finger, that the device overheats or care to fix/understand why it was having potentially dangerous issues, but that the device is over a year old and since it was, out of warranty, and the most the can do is offer 20% discount on the next product. Such a terrible response. I will not be buying another product from them, especially if it puts me or my household in a potentially dangerous situation. ********" When this works, it's wonderful but due to the terrible battery life and finicky app I wouldn't recommend it. Set up: not as straight forward and took a lot of trial and error. The app set up also wasn't included and I had to call for them to tell me how to set it up since this was too new at the time. Battery: this thing just chews through batteries. I'll need new batteries every month and there's no way to see battery life. You get a warning sound when its almost dead and then within a day it'll stop working and you won't be able to lock your door from the outside unless you manually do it. Also, Everytime I put new batteries in it resets my connection to the app.... App: laggy. I get booted everytime I put new batteries in.

Love at First Lock (and unlock)
We ordered this remote lock after a dog/house sitter locked themselves out one night when we were out of town. It was a bit of a nightmare but thankfully a neighbor came to the rescue with a spare key. The lock looks great and is very well made, very sturdy and heavy-duty feeling. The box and lock itself are pretty hefty which I was not expecting, but it's solid which I like. The installation was pretty simple and straightforward using the video walkthroughs in the app. Easy to connect to wi-fi, update firmware, and get synced up with our Google Home/Nest products. Very convenient to be able to lock and unlock the door anywhere using my voice, or via the app. It will be nice to provide access to family members or friends if necessary, as well as anyone we have dog or housesitting, and not have to worry about anyone losing a key or getting locked out. I've seen some reviews mentioning issues with auto lock and unlock, but we've not experienced any of those. Bear in mind, Yale states you need to be 200+ meters away from your lock before it enters that mode, so if you're just out for a walk in the neighborhood, you may not hit that threshold. But if we're going to and from work, shopping, etc. it has worked and unlocked every time we got home, even if one of us is already at home (which was a concern we had). We're interested to see what the battery life is like with it being connected to wi-fi via the smart module. It's unfortunate you can't check the battery level in the Yale Access App, but good to know we will be notified when the batteries need to be replaced. All in all, we're very happy with this purchase so far, less than a week in.

Great lock, very configurable, batteries last months
These locks are a game changer. I almost never carry keys with me and I don't ever fear locking myself out of the house. You can put a number of codes for different people in it. Which is great if you have service people (dog walkers, house cleaners, etc) regularly coming to your house. The lock can join wifi so you can remotely administer it. The manufacturer says that can impact battery life (more frequent battery changes). That might be true, but even on wifi, batteries last about 5 months for us. Remote management came in HUGE for us when we were away on vacation and a dog sitter hired through Rover failed to show up. When she finally did she didn't even walk our dog and (I'm not lying) stole food out of our freezer and fridge. We were able to delete her code so she couldn't get back in the house and luckily found a neighbor to take in our dog while we were gone. Thanks to the logging this lock does and a security camera we have installed we were able to piece together her neglect. This lock is fairly easy to install if you have any sort of mechanical aptitude. If you can't turn a screw driver you'll probably find it complicated. The instructions are good and are fairly easy to follow. One complaint I do have: when we added a second lock there wasn't a way to apply codes already assigned to a person on the first lock to the second. In fact, you didn't even see the second lock under that person's profile. The work around was to delete their profile/account and then re-add. Once I added them back both locks appeared. This likely isn't a huge issue for most people, but if you have a bunch of people already keyed in with codes/accounts for the first lock you installed, needing to delete them to simply add them back in so their code/account can see the second lock is annoying. You can have different codes and limitations on entry (restricted to only certain days or times) for the same person on different locks. That's nice if you want your dog walker to be able to enter your front door, but not your separate in-law suite for example. Being able to restrict entry to only certain days/times is a really nice feature too. So, you can only allow someone in between 10am and 2pm M-F (not weekends) if you wanted. All in all I love this lock and gladly give is 5 stars. Hopefully they fix the account issue with a second lock down the road via an app update. If not, the workaround isn't too onerous.

Good, solid, smart lock that is easy to setup.
Easy to install, solid, and good looking. Ticks all the boxes for what a smart lock should be. As The Wirecutter mentions, smart locks make more sense than traditional locks in terms of security. No need to carry keys anymore, no need to worry about leaving the door unlocked (it has auto-lock), and lasts long with normal usage. However, we had our unit malfunction within the first year when it started draining the batteries within a day! Yale's customer support were quick and sent us a replacement unit that solved the problem. Support could not clearly pinpoint what caused the original issue. One possibility they suggested was the unit trying to connect to our mesh router (multiple nodes with varying signal strength causing the unit to constantly search for a better signal). But that didn't change after connecting to a different non-mesh router.

Easy to install.
It was easy to install, works reliably, the app is easy to use, haven’t had any connectivity issues. The battery doesn’t last as long as advertised, but it is acceptable.

Terrible experience with this product
This was an awful product. I bought it and installed it, but I could not keep it connected to my WiFi. The router was about 15 feet away and had other devices connected to it. I spent literally hours on the phone with Yale support, but they were never able to get it to stay connected. They finally sent a replacement lock. The same thing happened: it could sometimes connect for a short time but then would lose the connection. On top of this, the batteries would die within about three weeks and need to be replaced. When I called a sixth or seventh time (and, like all prior times, after I waited forever on hold), I was told that the lock was too old to be returned. The customer service people were polite but unhelpful. I tossed the lock into the trash. I replaced the Yale lock with the Schl*** Enco** Smart WiFi Deadbolt Lock. The Schl*** lock installed easily and connected to my WiFi immediately. It has been working flawlessly for well over a month, and the battery has remained basically full. It is a far better option.

Beware and read the reviews
I’ve owned a Schlage before in a different home. This Yale lock was trickier to install and quite quirky to get functional. I ended up paying a locksmith to professionally install mine but it has major issues. The wifi receiver must have been the cheapest they could find because getting it to connect or maintaining a connection is nearly impossible. I’ve tested my signal and the ring doorbell right beside it functions just fine. This makes using the lock remotely impossible. You can use the Bluetooth connection but you must be standing by it. Not helpful when you are 50 miles away. In other words, you cannot operate the lock remotely or program new codes unless you are at home. Additionally the lock consumes battery life at an unusual rapid rate. Good luck getting two months out of high quality batteries. My Schlage lock would last a year and had no issues connecting, but it used a different technology via my Ring system. The “door sense” feature is also useless, never worked. It’s not critical but would come in handy in certain circumstances. It tells you whether the door is open or shut. It often tells me the door is open when clearly it isn’t. Use the strike plate included and don’t try and use an existing one. Customer service is responsive but it doesn’t make up for a crappy product. I’ll be replacing it with another brand so it’s a huge loss since I can’t return it now.

Does Not Work Outside USA/Canada – Not Suitable for UAE Buyers
I purchased this Yale Assure 2 from Amazon UAE, expecting full smart-lock functionality. While the lock hardware powers on and the keypad works, the smart features are unusable. This model requires the Yale Access app, which is not supported in this region. The app fails during setup with errors such as “unable to find manufacturing info” and rejects the serial number, making it impossible to activate the lock or use any smart features. In practice, this product only works properly in the USA and Canada, where Yale Access is officially supported. Selling it in the UAE without clear warnings is misleading. Without the app, this becomes an overpriced keypad lock, not a smart lock. This product should not be sold in the UAE unless regional app support is available or this limitation is clearly disclosed to buyers.
