Best Overall Mic for under $40?!
I am honestly surprised at the value of this kick drum mic. It has excellent build quality and comes with a nice case, slightly less heavy than i expected, but doesn't feel cheap. So far I recorded kick drum, a bass amp, and used it for live vocals, and it sounds fantastic. I tested it against a $99 Shure SM-57 for live vocals, and believe it or not, the Heimu sounded richer, more clear, and also had noticeably less feedback on my PA speakers at higher volumes. I prefer this kick mic to the more expensive kick drum mics, I love the versatility of it, and I think it may be the best mic under $40!

Very solid mic
Quality for the price! Well worth it for what I use it for. Great on floor toms too.

Good mic on a budget if you are patient
Decided to try this mic out for my band's kick drum situation. We were previously using a Shure SM57 because that is all we had. This mic took almost a month to ship from China so I was eager to get it. When it finally came in I mic'd up our bass drum with it, running thru a Mackie 24x8 pro board and a Crown 1000W amplifier out to our 12" mains and 15" floor wedge. The whole band was VERY impressed with the sound. Full bodied sound, bass freq's are focused but resonant, impact transient pickup is adequate for that beater "slap". If you are looking for a solid cheap bass drum mic but don't want to spend $200 on a Beta52, D6, etc. then this will fit the bill for rehearsal space use. Have not tried it recording or on bass cabs yet but I will update this review if/when I do. Worth the wait in shipping time for the price paid.

A Great Kick and Floor Tom Mic at a great Price
Great Price. I have Three of these. They sound Great for Kick and Large Floor Toms. Better than a SM57 for 1/3rd the price. not the most durable so i wouldn't use on Gigs. But great for Home Studio. Amazing value.

These are my go to kick drum mics now. I leave my old 200-300 dollar kick drum mics in the case.

Nice. Rehoused Pyle PDKM7-A
I guessed correctly that this mic is the Pyle PDKM7-A in a fatter housing as the photo shows and sound testing confirms. The Heimu mount also features brass threads, vastly more durable than the Pyle threads. So if you want just the kick mic out of the Pyle kit, here it is. Much has been made of the reported 50Hz pickup limit. Well this isn’t so hard a limit in the first place and a good question is whether you want DC in your track in the first place. I think this has plenty of low end in practice and if you want to open up the top a bit you can pull the foam out of the basket (it is just floating in there). It has a strong supercardioid pattern with good proximity effect. I think it’s fine for recording although you can pay more and do a little better if you want. These single coil dynamics are susceptible to picking up some hum be aware, but that is also true of SM57 and RE20 and lots of classics. You may have to aim them correctly or dehum in post. This mic isn’t that big but it is a little fatty. The tiny Pyle version is like a stubby SM58 size. Anyway a totally viable kick or bass cab mic for cheap. Output is good and you can EQ in post to your hearts content. The mount is plastic but sturdy looking. Anyone capable can work with this fine, question is should you pay more.

I pretty decent kick drum mic
I purchased this fo use in a live environment and was looking for an alternative to an AKG D112. This doesn't sound as good as a D112, but I was frankly surprised for the price how good it does sound. The sound to me is a bit darker and the bass tones deeper than a D112, but I do miss that kick drum "click" that I can usually get from the D112. Either way, I liked the sound more than I thought I would for a ~$35 mic. The mic itself is pretty solid, but I wasn't really happy with the mic stand mount. The mount is all plastic and part of the mic rather than using a separate clip. My biggest concern is the part of the mount that screws to the stand is also plastic instead of having a metal insert to keep the threads from stripping. But if you leave it on the stand (as I will), it should be fine. All in all a great value for the money for live sound on a budget.
